Skelcon recently completed the new Wests Netball Clubhouse in New Lambton, delivered over 5 months in collaboration with EJE Architecture.

Built for our long-standing client, Wests Group, the new facility includes a main deck and BBQ area, meeting room, kitchenette, office space, changerooms, amenities, storage facilities and a maintenance shed, creating a modern and practical space for players, staff and the wider netball community.

Some standout features throughout the build include the natural Araucaria iHoop timber ceiling, statement joinery elements, honed concrete flooring and feature timber look battening, all working together to give the space a warm and inviting finish.

A great result for everyone involved and a project the team really enjoyed bringing to life, especially seeing the reaction from the Wests Netball community as they stepped into their new clubhouse for the first time.

Today, some of the team donated their time to Soul Hub Newcastle helping in the kitchen and serving more than 150 meals to the local community.

As part of the initiative, we also came together for a donation drive, collecting pantry and essential items to help support the incredible work Soul Hub continues to do for those in need.

A big thank you to the entire Skelcon team for getting involved and contributing. It was great to be able to support such an important local organisation and give back to the community.

Skelcon is proud to present the completion of the Knights Boarding House Project, delivered for our long-standing client Wests Group in collaboration with EJE Architecture.⁠

This new build was completed in just over 12 months and forms part of our ongoing relationship with Wests Group and the Newcastle Knights. Designed to support the development of juniors and pathway athletes.
⁠
The layout includes 10 bedrooms, two sitting rooms, a multimedia room, carers suite, main kitchen and living areas, laundry, five car garage and a central courtyard complete with basketball hoop and BBQ facilities, creating a space that supports both performance and community.⁠
⁠
Although the team came up against some unforgiving weather during the groundwork’s stages, they managed to push through and complete a complex but eye-catching build. Some highlights included the detailed lightweight structure and fire rating requirements, the second storey façade with seamless turndowns and curved sections and the detailed brickwork throughout, from corbelling across the building to curved brick walls and feature hit and miss brickwork fencing, all finished with a carefully considered mix of materials and textures.

Have you seen Newcastle’s newest foreshore landmark? 🔥
Skelcon recently completed the new Newcastle Foreshore Kiosk for the City of Newcastle, delivering one of the most unique builds we’ve ever taken on.

Designed by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, the project features off-form concrete, curved hardwood timber batten ceilings and flowing curved elements throughout the entire build, including the kiosk, amenities and outdoor seating areas.

The project has already become a standout along the foreshore and it’s been great seeing so many people stop to take it all in. We can’t wait for the playground and waterpark to officially open so the whole precinct can come to life.

We’re looking for someone with 5+ years post-trade experience who can work independently, take ownership of their work, and deliver consistent, high-quality results across both workshop and site. A current driver’s licence is essential.

What you’ll be doing
• Joinery fabrication and assembly in the workshop
• Reading and interpreting plans and shop drawings
• Working closely with the project and site teams
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workspace
• Ensuring finishes meet a high standard

Pharmacy fitouts are evolving ⬇️

We’re seeing a strong shift in the way pharmacies are being designed, with consult rooms becoming a key part of the layout. It’s no longer just about dispensing medication, it’s about creating spaces that support more personalised, private healthcare.

From vaccinations and health checks through to one-on-one consultations, these dedicated rooms allow pharmacists to offer a more complete level of care within the community. It also means smarter planning behind the scenes, balancing workflow, privacy, compliance and customer experience all in one space.

Done right, these environments feel seamless for both staff and patients, with thoughtful layouts, integrated joinery and clear separation between retail and clinical zones. It’s a great example of how design and construction are adapting to support the future of healthcare.

Bay Doctors & Skin Cancer Clinic, Salamander Bay 🏥

From concept to completion, this one was delivered entirely in-house by the Skelcon team across Design, Construct and Joinery.

Working alongside a great client team, this full two level fit-out came together in under six months, transforming the space from a bed showroom with mezzanine into a modern, highly functional medical clinic retrofitted with a commercial lift and designed to support both patients and staff.

Featuring a double height arrival, the Clients led a varied and colourful palette which is delightfully reflected in the ground floor reception, consult and treatment rooms as well as a fully equipped second level including pathology, staff spaces and breakout areas. Finished with natural hardwood timber screens, textured feature wall coverings, and subtle wayfinding details, the final result speaks for itself.
