We're proud to announce we've received our Passive House Tradesperson certificate from passivhausaustralia

It's not lost on us that not everyone wants or knows what a passive house is.
In Australia, and especially Tassie they aren't the norm, but they are becoming more and more sought after given our extremely cold and hot seasons, it makes a lot of sense.
There's not that many builders out there that are certified yet, and we're proud to be one of them now!

Whether a home is fully certified or just built with care for it's occupants, I think we can all agree that a comfortable, durable house with low energy usage and clean air is a good thing and these are the principals we build every house with regardless of certification.

We've seen and felt a noticeable difference in comfort and durability of our homes by making small changes each year to how we build and using the knowledge we've gained rather than the minimum allowable standards of construction.
You can't have quality without durability, and the principles of 'Passivhaus' align with our values.

For us, this is all about durability and quality. Building something that is going to last is top of the list of priorities, low energy usage is just a very fortunate outcome of building well and to a measurable standard.

We're not in one camp or the other, everyone has different priorities and budgets - only difference is now we are capable of building it! What we can say is, when the time comes for us to build our 'Forever home' - It will be a Passive House.

The life update.... that nobody asked for 😝

We post the finished jobs, we post the amazing client testimonials so we thought we'd share a bit of what we've been up to behind the scenes.
Over the past couple of months things have been a little hectic - we've moved house (for third time in 12months), sold our Cromwell Street property, moved all of our business storage into one place and launched our brand new website. James has also been on site full time which means most of our free time is spent discussing work and what we need to catch up on.
Our biggest focus outside of work has been Charlie (our baby). He recently had to have spinal surgery which was incredibly stressful. He had an emergency trip to Hobart which just happened to be the same day we were moving house - timing! Thankfully, he's doing a lot better now, with a lot of rehab (and Lenny staying at my Dads place 😢) he should be mostly back to normal soon. We're SO relieved.
At the same time, we've had three client homes on the go, a handover, client meetings, quoting, planning, managing our Airbnbs and all the things that come with running a small business. Also trying to stay somewhat healthy and have what resembles a social life 😅 We did get away for my birthday (before Charlie hurt himself) which was so much fun and we can ALWAYS make time for a wine and/or scones 😉
Sometimes it probably looks like we're "just building houses", but there's always a lot happening behind the scenes too, most of which doesn't get shown on social media. Like most small business owners, work and life tend to blend together and there's more 'downs' than there are 'ups' sometimes (i.e. CASHFLOW! If you know, you know haha) No complaints though! We know we're lucky to do what we do.
We feel like we're finally getting back into a routine and are excited for what's ahead. We've got some amazing projects progressing and as always, we're super grateful for our incredible clients (current and new). We're keen to share more of what we're up to and just wanted to share the REALITY of having a small business, not just the highlights.

Thank you for your endless hard work, commitment and for genuinely caring about every client and every home we build. It's why our business is what it is.
Enjoy a well-deserved break this weekend in Melbourne and watching the footy with your mates (although you'll probably still answer your phone 😂). We love you! ❤️

An excuse to share our Cromwell Street development again.... because today it officially settles 🙌

This project is a good reminder that great design doesn't have to mean spending money everywhere. It's about knowing where to invest, where to keep things simple, and making thoughtful choices that stand the test of time.

We're all about creating homes that feel considered, functional and beautiful—without adding things just for the sake of it.

Quality over excess. Every time.

It's here! A website that finally feels like us 🤍
After months of planning and refining, our new website is now live!
We wanted a website that genuinely reflected who we are as a team and the experience we want our clients to have when building with us. Something warm, welcoming and true to us.

A very special thank you to one of our best friends, Jess, who took this project on from scratch despite never having built a website before! She's so clever it's annoying 😅 She put so much time, care and effort into every page, listened to what we wanted, every idea and somehow managed to bring our vision to life exactly how we'd imagined 👏🏻 (Reach out if you happen to need a new website! 😉)
We honestly couldn't be happier with the result, and we're so proud to finally share it.

We're so proud of 'Undara' ✨️
This was such a special project.
Inspired by Jenni and Joe's love of Japanese design, this home is all about simplicity, calm and getting the details right - and that's exactly where the team stepped up. It's a credit to each and every person who was involved on this job including all our trusted trades.
A big shout out to Quinton, whose attention to detail across every stage made a huge difference in the final result.
We're so grateful to our amazing clients for trusting us with their vision. There's nothing better than seeing people move into a home they've been dreaming about ❤️
