The Hat Factory: Newtown’s industrial heritage, restored. ⚒️

Proud to have delivered this restoration build alongside Welsh + Major.

The two apartments are shaped by the building’s original loading bays, with the richly textured stone boundary walls becoming a defining feature throughout.

Facing the rear courtyards, the spaces make the most of natural light and cross-ventilation, while carefully retained details, including patches of brickwork and graffiti, keep the building’s history present.

Raw steel staircases, skylights and galvanised finishes bring a contemporary edge to the original fabric.

A project so special, it was featured on Grand Designs Australia.

Planning a considered build or restoration? We’d be glad to talk.

COMMERCIAL PROJECT // Custom Gear Headquarters in Annandale.

From a late-1940s warehouse to a modern commercial headquarters.

For Custom Gear in Annandale, we transformed an existing industrial building into a flexible workplace combining a welcoming lobby, modern offices, kitchen and lunchroom facilities, bathrooms, storage, light manufacturing space and warehousing.

The refreshed façade features hooded windows, slimline glass doors and recycled brick, celebrating the building’s industrial heritage while giving it a contemporary edge.

Inside, skylights, timber flooring in the offices, light-coloured epoxy flooring in the warehouse, and carefully considered finishes create a vibrant, functional environment designed for both people and productivity.

Planning a commercial transformation of your own? Let’s bring your vision to life.
