🌏 FROM THE BLUFF TO THE WORLD — 7.1 MILLION VIEWS

A regional bridge. Two major floods. Millions of people watching across the globe.

The story of the new Bluff Bridge has captured attention far beyond the Clarence Valley, with our project timelapse now reaching an incredible:

👀 7.17 million views
❤️ 402,000+ reactions
💬 2,100+ comments
↗️ 24,500+ shares
🤝 455,000+ interactions

And behind those numbers is one hell of a project.

The Bluff Bridge was delivered through two major flood events, with years of planning and 13 months of construction ultimately captured in just three minutes.

Officially opened to two-way traffic on 29 April 2026, the new bridge rises more than 17 metres above Orara Way and provides a critical connection between Glenreagh, Nana Glen and Grafton.

For BASEC Engineering, it has been pretty incredible to watch a project delivered here in regional NSW spark interest and conversation around the world.

BASEC Engineering was proud to deliver full project management on behalf of Clarence Valley Council, from early development through construction and handover, led by Dean Gregory CPEng NER RPEQ and supported by Gordon Cupitt.

And a project like this takes a team.

A huge congratulations again to everyone who helped bring the Bluff Bridge to life:

▪️ Silverstrand Developments | Civil Construction
▪️ ADG Engineers
▪️ CaSE Civil and Structural Engineering
▪️ SMEC (an SJ Group company)
▪️ Brendan Keane
▪️ EDG Consulting
▪️ BK. Engineering Consulting Solutions
▪️ LB Australia

Two major floods. 13 months of construction. More than 7 million views around the world. 🌉🌏

Not bad for a bridge in regional NSW.

Better management. Better outcomes. 👷‍♀️

🔩 BOLTING INSPECTION | COFFS HARBOUR BYPASS

Tick of approval from the boss. ✅

Our Engineering Manager, Rick Neale, was out on site at the Coffs Harbour Bypass carrying out a bolting inspection on a cantilever road sign structure extending over the highway.

When a structure sits above live traffic, every connection matters. Rick inspected the bolted connections to verify the installation and ensure the structure met the required engineering and project specifications.

It’s the kind of work that often goes unnoticed once a project is complete — but these inspections are an important part of delivering safe, reliable infrastructure built for the long haul.

Another day in the field for the BASEC Engineering team. 👷‍♂️🔩

At Blair & Sons Engineering Contractors, we know that strong communities are built by strong families.

That’s why we’re incredibly proud to partner with Lismore Toyota Toyota to support The Younger Heroes helping put a new Toyota Hilux SR5 on the road to reach more families across Australia.

The Younger Heroes is an Australian charity dedicated to helping current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force families reconnect through nature-based, technology-free programs that strengthen family bonds, build resilience, improve communication and encourage teamwork. Their mission is simple but powerful: Strengthening Families.

For us, this partnership is about more than sponsoring a vehicle. It’s about helping an organisation reach more communities, support more families, and continue creating life-changing experiences for those who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.

A huge thank you to Lismore Toyota for joining us in supporting this incredible initiative, and to The Younger Heroes team for the meaningful work you do every day.

We’re proud to be part of the journey.

Resilient Homes Program: timelines, site work, and a session worth attending

A quick update for anyone tracking the NSW Reconstruction Authority’s Resilient Homes Program:
While new applications to enter the program are now closed, homeowners still in the pipeline have until June 2027 to submit a building scope of works, with all renovation and building works to be completed by December 2028.

On the ground, that means teams like ours at BASEC are continuing to move properties through assessment and design. Pictured is Emilio conducting an on-site resilient measures inspection early this month - checking clearances, services and structural considerations that inform whether a home is best suited to raising, rebuild or relocation, in line with the RA’s Flood Resilient Design Guide.

For homeowners still working through their options, the RA is running an Information Session in Murwillumbah tomorrow, Wednesday 22 July, 12pm–6pm (drop in anytime) at the Murwillumbah Civic and Cultural Centre, with presentations on relocating a home, understanding the Managing Consultant role, and a step-by-step guide to the homeowner journey.

If your project is progressing through the RHP, sessions like this are a genuinely useful chance to ask the BASEC team direct questions before your scope of works is locked in.

We look forward to seeing you there.
