🍽️ COOKING UP A LITTLE COMMUNITY SPIRIT

Recently, some of the BASEC Engineering team swapped engineering and project management for aprons and serving spoons, spending the evening cooking dinner for the guests at Our House in Lismore.

Our House provides a home away from home for patients, carers and families who need to travel to Lismore for medical treatment. Sometimes something as simple as a home-cooked meal can make a big difference during a challenging time.

BASEC Engineering was founded in Lismore, and giving back to the community that has supported us from the beginning is incredibly important to our team.

Being part of the Northern Rivers is about more than the projects we deliver. It’s about showing up, lending a hand and supporting the organisations doing incredible work for local people and families.

A huge thank you to the team at Our House for having us. We loved getting into the kitchen, sharing a few laughs and putting dinner on the table for your guests.

And judging by the photos, a few of our team might have missed their calling in hospitality! 😂

BASEC Engineering was proud to sponsor a hole at the 2026 Guzman y Gomez Charity Golf Day, supporting the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service at Coffs Harbour Golf Club.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service plays an incredibly important role across Northern NSW, providing lifesaving critical care and rescue operations when our communities need it most.

For BASEC Engineering, supporting the communities where we live and work is a big part of who we are, so we were proud to get behind an event raising funds for such an important local service.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the day together, and to the businesses, sponsors, players and supporters who helped raise funds for this lifesaving service.

BASEC ENGINEERING AT THE NSW MAJOR PROJECTS CONFERENCE 2026 🏗️

The BASEC Engineering BASEC Architecture architecture team headed to Sydney for the 16th Annual NSW Major Projects Conference, held at the International Convention Centre on 8–9 September.

BASEC was proud to attend as an Associate Sponsor, joining industry leaders, government representatives and infrastructure professionals to discuss the projects, investment and challenges shaping the future of infrastructure.

For a regional business that started in Lismore, having BASEC represented alongside some of the biggest names in the industry is something we’re incredibly proud of.

Today, our team delivers expertise across project management, engineering design, architecture, environmental management, superintendent services, HSEQ and technical advisory, supporting major civil and community infrastructure projects across NSW and Queensland.

It all comes back to what we stand for — better management, better outcomes.

A brilliant couple of days connecting with the industry, strengthening relationships and looking ahead at the major projects shaping our regions and communities.

And seeing the BASEC name up there alongside some of the industry’s leading organisations was a pretty great moment for our team. 🙌

WHY DID BLUFF BRIDGE TAKE 13 MONTHS TO BUILD?

It’s one of the questions we’ve been asked most since sharing the Bluff Bridge Replacement Project.

So, we asked our friends at Borger Cranes if we could share this epic footage from their work with us on the project — because it gives some pretty incredible perspective on exactly what the team was working with.

A remote location. Challenging access. Major construction. And flooding.

The site was flooded around five times throughout the construction phase, including two significant flood events.

Which brings us to another question we’re regularly asked:

“Will the new bridge ever flood?”

Yes.

The difference is what happens afterwards.

The new concrete bridge has been designed to significantly improve flood resilience and reduce the length of time the community is cut off. Following a flood event, debris can be cleared and access restored far more quickly than was possible with the old timber structure.

That means kids getting back to school sooner.
Freight moving again.
Local businesses reconnecting.
And communities getting back to everyday life much faster.

The goal was never to pretend flooding doesn’t happen here.

It was to build infrastructure that responds better when it does.

13 months of construction in a challenging, flood-prone and remote environment — delivering a bridge designed to serve the Clarence Valley community for decades to come.

BASEC Engineering was incredibly proud to deliver project management for the Bluff Bridge Replacement on behalf of Clarence Valley Council.

SUPPORTING LOCAL, BASEC STYLE 🤝

At BASEC Engineering, supporting local businesses is something we’re proud to do wherever we can.

Our Director, Jamie Blair, recently teamed up with REMOTE PROJECTS Bangalow to create a selection of custom BASEC Engineering bags for our team.

The Remote Projects team sewed our BASEC labels onto the bags at their Bangalow workshop. Locally small family business, seriously good quality and built to be put to work — pretty fitting for BASEC.

As a Northern Rivers business ourselves, we know the value of choosing local. It keeps skills, creativity and investment within our region and supports the people and businesses that make our communities what they are.

A big thank you to the team at Remote Projects for bringing the BASEC bags to life… We think they’ve come up pretty bloody good!

Congratulations to our Director, Jamie Blair, as he completes his two-year tenure as Vice President of the Business Lismore Chamber.

As a business founded in Lismore, BASEC Engineering has always had a strong connection to this community. It’s where our story began, where our head office remains today, and a region we’re incredibly proud to continue investing in and supporting.
