Our congratulations go to Allume Energy for their win in the Australian Good Design Awards in both design of the year and sustainability for their rooftop solar sharing SolShare technology. This allows multiple tenancy buildings to effectively share the benefits of rooftop solar.
We are very pleased to have assisted them with some specialised development support and hope this win leads to bigger and better things for Allume Energy.

Fresh from a double win at the Australian Good Design Awards, Allume's SolShare is overcoming the barriers to bringing cheap, clean electricity to apartment dwellers.

Industry Update Media have published an article on Innovation we put together following our selection as finalists at the Australian Manufacturing Awards in the Innovation category.

Innovation, unlike research or development, applies to every aspect of everything. So if you are going to be good at anything, then innovation is a good place to start.

When people hear the word innovation, they often think about invention: a new technology, a breakthrough product or a clever piece of engineering that did not exist before. Those things matter.

Successful Endeavours worked on our first IoT-style project in 1998, before “IoT” became the common label.

A lot has changed since then. Connected products are now everywhere, but the important questions have shifted. It is no longer just about connecting a device to the internet. It is about security, updates, production testing, traceability, support and whether the product can be manufactured reliably.

Some news from us. Successful Endeavours Pty Ltd is now a registered Research Service Provider.

“A what?”

This means we are a Research Service Provider (RSP) under the Australian Government’s Research and Development Tax Incentive (R&DTI) program.

In practical terms, it can make it easier to get started with eligible R&D work with us, and easier to tackle specific technical risks requiring research or new knowledge without committing to a complete development program before getting the critical answers needed to proceed with confidence.

We view development as a process of retiring risk and uncertainty — preferably as early as possible — and a good development process allows that to happen progressively and with confidence.

Good commercialisation rarely starts with certainty.

The discipline is to retire risk and uncertainty progressively. Each investigation should answer a defined technical question, generate useful evidence and improve the quality of the next commercial decision.

technical uncertainty → targeted investigation → evidence → reduced risk → justified next commitment

The aim is not simply to spend money developing a product. It is to learn enough at each stage to justify the next step.
