Fabrication Machining Waterjet Profiling Established in 2005, Evolution Engineering specialises in Carbon Steel, Aluminium and Stainless Steel Fabrication, machining, and Waterjet profiling. Our Waterjet Machine has capabilities to cut an enormous range of materials including plastics, ceramics and rubber. It is able to maintain an accuracy of 0.20mm, an

d the ability to cut up to 150mm steel. Waterjet's inherent cold cutting quality allows materials to be cut that would be burned, melted, or cracked by other cutting methods. Compared to plasmas and lasers, waterjets undergo no thermal stress leaving no Heat Affected Zones. Our team offers a wide range of capabilities; we can manufacture components from Shop Drawings or Design, Fabricate & Commission components that meet the requirements of our clients. So whether you need the smallest welding job done or you need specialised equipment built, we can help you every step of the way. As Evolution Engineering enters an exciting new chapter, we are proud to introduce the leadership team guiding our business into the future.

While leadership has evolved, the foundations that have built Evolution Engineering over the past 21 years remain unchanged.

We also take this opportunity to acknowledge and sincerely thank John Refalo for his dedication, leadership and contribution to Evolution Engineering throughout its journey. His commitment, vision and hard work have helped build the strong business and reputation that we proudly continue today.

As another crushing season begins across our region, the team at Evolution Engineering Mackay would like to wish all sugarcane growers, harvesting crews, haul-out operators, mill workers, locomotive operators and farming families a safe, productive and successful season.
The sugar industry is the backbone of many communities throughout our region, and we recognise the hard work, long hours and dedication that go into every tonne of cane delivered to the mill.

As activity increases on our roads and rail crossings, we encourage everyone to remain patient and vigilant. Please take extra care around cane trains, locomotives, wide loads, haul-out trucks and agricultural machinery as they move throughout our communities.

Safety is everyone's responsibility, and a little patience can make a big difference.

To all those involved in the 2026 crushing season — thank you for what you do. We appreciate the contribution you make to our region and are proud to support the sugar industry through our fabrication, maintenance and engineering services.

🏭The 2026 production season is almost here! 🚂

We’ve confirmed season start dates, with our first factories scheduled to kick off on Tuesday 2 June and the remaining sites starting on Tuesday 9 June.

📍 Starting 2 June:
• Invicta, Pioneer, Kalamia and Inkerman mills in the Burdekin
• Plane Creek Mill, Sarina.

📍 Starting 9 June:
• Proserpine Mill
• Victoria and Macknade mills in the Herbert.

A big thank you to our employees, contractors and service providers for their outstanding efforts in delivering this year's large maintenance season works program. 👏

Pre-season commissioning is now under way, with steam trials taking place across our factories over the next fortnight.

🚂⚠️ Remember that locomotive driver training is taking place across all of our milling regions. It's time to switch on your train brain and take extra care at cane railway crossings.
