Some sites come with history. Contaminated soil, ACM material, EPA obligations and a development timeline that can't wait.

Soil screening is a critical step in bringing former landfill, industrial, and brownfield sites back into productive use. Large-scale development doesn't begin at the build stage. It begins with the ground.

Site preparation, bulk earthworks, cut and fill, drainage design, and subgrade construction all determine whether what's built above ground performs as intended. Poorly executed earthworks create long-term problems: differential settlement, drainage failures, and costly rectification works that surface after handover.

GMA's civil and earthworks capability covers the full scope of pre-construction ground preparation, from initial bulk excavation and material management through to subbase compaction and final levels. Our plant operators and site supervisors have extensive experience on industrial, infrastructure, and development projects across Victoria, managing earthworks programmes to tight tolerances and documented quality standards.

We also coordinate directly with environmental and hazardous materials teams when contaminated ground is encountered, allowing earthworks to continue without stopping the project clock.

With winter maintenance schedules ramping up across commercial and industrial sites, now is the time to think about what's already in your buildings.

Ageing industrial and commercial infrastructure across Victoria frequently contains asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in roof sheeting, pipe lagging, floor underlays, ceiling tiles, and partition walls. The risks these materials pose aren't constant. They change as buildings age, as maintenance works disturb surfaces, and as weather and wear degrade previously stable materials.

GMA holds both Class A and Class B asbestos removal licences, covering the full range of removal works from non-friable sheeting to high-risk friable materials. Our inspection and removal process includes thorough identification, a documented removal plan, safe containment, licensed disposal, and full clearance certification upon completion.

If your building predates 2004 and hasn't been assessed recently, the time to act is before works are planned, not after.
