Fishermans Bend is one of the most complex remediation projects underway in Melbourne right now and GMA has been trusted to deliver it since June 2025.

In this video, our team walks through the scale of the work: approximately 30,000 cubic metres of contaminated soil remediated to date, spanning categories B, C and D, plus cleanfill, with asbestos-containing material present in every cubic metre processed.

When fire meets asbestos, the clean-up becomes a different kind of job.

GMA was called in to manage 150 tonnes of fire-damaged waste containing friable asbestos, one of the more hazardous forms to handle, since fibres can become airborne if it's disturbed the wrong way.

We worked closely with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to find the right solution for the site, managing the material safely from assessment through to compliant disposal.
