DARGUES MINE MODIFICATION 6 (MP10_0054-MOD-6)
Big Island Mining Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aurelia Metals Ltd (Aurelia), has lodged a modification application with the Department of Planning, Housing andInfrastructure under Section 4.56 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 for the Dargues Mine (MOD 6).
The MOD 6 application (reference MP10_0054-Mod-6) seeks permission to transfer water contained within the tailings storage facility to previously mined underground areas of the Dargues Mine.
The Dargues Mine ceased operations in late 2024 and the site has transitioned to rehabilitation and closure. The site has limited options to dispose of excess water following rainfall, which is currently being stored in the tailings storage facility. MOD 6 will allow Aurelia to remove excess water from the site to progress rehabilitation activities.

Details of how you can comment on the application are available on the website. MOD 6 is on exhibition from 5 June 2025 - 19 June 2025.

Dargues Mine will be providing information relating to mine rehabilitation plans and a proposed modification to the project approval. This relates to the potential transfer of water in the tailings storage facility to the underground mine.

A highlight of the year in Braidwood is the "Airing of the Quilts" Festival. The main street becomes alive with an exhibition of quilts hanging from the town's historic verandahs and a quilting competition held in the National Theatre.
Aurelia Metals had the pleasure of judging "The Best Use Of Colour" prize. The winning work entitled "Australia in Bloom" was made by Cassandra Philpot.
Cara and Abi from Dargues were amazed at the careful blending of colours with very small quilt pieces of floral fabrics.
For those with a geological eye, the pattern will remind you of some lovely anticline and syncline folds.
Another entry that caught our mining eye was the truck and dozer quilt by R. Smith, made for her grandson.
It is such a fantastic event that brings many visitors to Braidwood, thanks to all involved.
