This was a special project for the Kanyana Engineering team.

We were proud to laser cut, weld, and assemble the custom artwork for the new Mandurah Bridge, designed by artist Paula Hart; Georgiou Group.

The artwork was created to capture stories of past families from the Mandurah and Peel region, and for us this project had an extra personal connection. The Dawe family (owners of Kanyana) is one of the local families represented, with our own history caption included within the sculptures.

A lot of detail went into these pieces, from the laser cut profiles and fine cut-outs through to the welding, forming, finishing, and final assembly. It was a great example of practical craftsmanship meeting public art.

Proud of our team and very happy to have played a part in something that will be seen and enjoyed by the Mandurah community for years to come.

Welding has always been a big part of what we do at Kanyana Engineering.

Over the years, we’ve built a team with the skills and experience to work across a wide range of materials from aluminium and stainless through to steel — and across different thicknesses depending on what the job requires.

Good welding is more than just putting two pieces together. It comes down to preparation, fit-up, process, experience, and taking the time to do the job properly.

After nearly 30 years in this business, I still enjoy seeing the work take shape in the workshop.

There’s a lot that happens before a finished job leaves Kanyana the cutting, fit-up, welding, problem-solving, checking, and the many small decisions that make the final result what it is.
