🏗️ GETTING READY FOR THE BIG POUR!

Before the concrete trucks arrive and the slab starts taking shape, there’s an important stage that needs to happen first — slab preparation.

This is where accuracy really matters.

Formwork is set out, reinforcement is positioned and plumbing penetrations are carefully placed according to the home’s plans.

At this stage, everything needs to be where it should be before the concrete goes down.

Why? Because the slab becomes the foundation for everything that follows.

From the position of your walls and rooms to bathrooms, kitchen and laundry plumbing, good preparation now helps keep the entire build moving in the right direction.

It might look like a construction site full of steel, pipes and formwork today…

But soon, it’ll be the foundation of someone’s new home. 🏡

When you look at a finished home, you see the kitchen, bathrooms, flooring and all the beautiful finishing touches.

But some of the most important work happens long before any of that.

Before the slab goes down, underground plumbing and services need to be carefully planned and positioned.

That means working out exactly where things like:

🚿 Showers and bathrooms
🚽 Toilets
🍴 Kitchen plumbing
🧺 Laundry services
💧 Water and drainage lines

will eventually be located.

Once everything is correctly positioned and the slab is poured, much of this work will never be seen again.

That’s why getting it right from the beginning matters.

Before the slab is poured and before the frames start going up, there’s plenty of important work happening on site to prepare the land for construction.

Site preparation can include:

🚜 Clearing & preparation — getting the building area ready for works to begin.

📐 Levels & earthworks — preparing the site to the correct levels for the home.

🚚 Site access — making sure machinery, materials and trades can safely access the build.

💧 Drainage planning — particularly important when building in Mareeba and across the Tablelands, where local conditions need to be considered from the beginning.

🏡 Preparing for the slab — creating the foundation for everything that's about to follow.

🏡 THE SLAB IS DOWN!

This is where it starts to feel real.

After all the planning, designing, selections and preparation, seeing the slab go down is one of those big milestones in any new home build.

Suddenly, the plans on paper start becoming something you can actually see.

You can begin to picture where the kitchen will be, where the bedrooms will sit, where you'll entertain and how the whole home will flow.

And from here, things can start changing quickly.

Next comes framing, walls, roofing and before long, what was once an empty block starts looking very much like a home.
