For Cannington personnel and their family members:
Telstra is currently experiencing an outage for Mobile and Landline connectivity across the Australian network. Call connections are infrequent and may result in dropped calls and or no connection errors.

This is currently impacting people on site, so please keep in mind if you are trying to contact them and consider using alternative options such as WIFI connection.

We can’t get enough of these pics - reliving an incredible weekend at the 30th annual Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival 🙌

South32 Cannington was proud to once again support this iconic community event - including the ever-popular South32 Adventure Run, which drew a strong turnout and continues to grow each year.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered and helped make it such a success 👏

We’re proud to partner with the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) to provide valuable, hands-on learning experiences for students in our neighbouring communities.

Recently, South32 Cannington supported the QMEA STEM Unearthed workshop at Thuringowa State High School, where 16 students from Thuringowa SHS and Tec-NQ explored engineering and career opportunities in the resources sector through practical, hands-on activities.

The workshop received positive feedback, with 88% of students reporting increased awareness of careers in the resources sector.

Students from Cloncurry State School recently stepped out of the classroom and into the field at South32 Cannington, gaining hands-on insight into the resources industry.

Through our partnership with the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA), Year 11 and 12 students toured the site to learn how minerals are discovered, mined and processed, bringing classroom learning to life and showcasing the wide range of careers that support a modern mining operation.

Opportunities like this can be limited in remote and regional communities. That’s why we’re proud to support in-classroom STEM and trade programs, along with site visits that connect students across Cloncurry, Julia Creek and Townsville with real-world learning.

Thank you to the Cannington team and partners who made the day possible and to the students for their curiosity and enthusiasm.
