Inspiring Sustainable Change in Brisbane:-

It was fantastic to see some of our B & C Plastics` recycled products on display at the Sustainable BNE Festival (Brisbane Sustainability Agency) last week through our valued Client, Dr. Mana Sitthiracha .

Events like these show that more people are looking for practical, sustainable solutions that fit into everyday life. It was especially rewarding to hear the positive feedback on our recycled paint tools / tubs and buckets and to see the creative ways that people are finding new uses for products like our Bucket Mate.

Thank you to Mana and the Circlely team for showcasing what can be achieved when recycled materials are transformed into quality, durable products.

Together, we are helping make sustainability a practical choice for more Australians. ♻️

Check out Mana`s Website here for some great sustainable items - It`s so important to support local and we hope that you will support her too - www.circlely.com.au

We also have a separate Website for our sustainable items direct to consumer - https://shopbc.com.au/, or feel free to contact us directly - [email protected] for larger bulk orders and discounted rates.

Insights from the Queensland Small Business Expo Brisbane:-

Wendy Kent and Megan Hibbert attended the Queensland Small Business Expo Brisbane this week, and what a fantastic day it was.

The quality of the speakers throughout the event was absolutely exceptional, with practical insights covering:

• Queensland Government procurement
• Council and Olympic opportunities leading into 2032
• Tendering tips and contract delivery
• AI for business
• Financial management and business resilience
• Tax and Insurance

One of the biggest highlights was being able to stop at the exhibition stands and speak directly with the people behind the organisations and programs supporting business growth in Queensland. Those real conversations and connections are incredibly valuable.

The sessions around the 2032 Olympics, government procurement, and becoming more visible to government buyers were particularly insightful. There are clearly significant opportunities ahead for capable Queensland Manufacturers and Suppliers who are prepared to position themselves strategically.

It was also refreshing to see so much support available for all size Businesses looking to grow, evolve, and think bigger.

Thank you to the organisers, presenters, and exhibitors for delivering such a valuable event.

WOMEN IN MANUFACTURING:-

Wendy Kent and Meg Hibbert attended the Logan Women in Manufacturing breakfast at the Logan Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, organised by Queensland (NRMMRRD). It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with other women across the manufacturing industry in Logan , sharing experiences, insights and stories from journeys within the sector.

The event featured an inspiring panel of women leaders who shared their learnings, challenges and successes throughout their careers. Their stories highlighted the importance of innovation, diversity and creating opportunities for women in manufacturing.

Thank you to Manufacturing Queensland (NRMMRRD), the organisers and speakers for hosting such a meaningful and empowering event. These events encourage connection, collaboration and the continued growth of women in manufacturing.

One of the unexpected highlights of the morning came from simply sitting down and having a chat. A connection made at their table has already led to an interview at B&C Plastics today and potentially a new employment opportunity! It just goes to show that you never know what can happen when women come together, start talking and support one another 😂 ❤️

Building Connections, Celebrating People & Strengthening Our Team Culture:-

Today we held our monthly Painted Picture Session with the Team at B & C Plastics.

Kent, our CEO asked each of us to bring along an object / a picture, something meaningful to each of us, something that reflected who we are and how it has impacted our lives, whether at work or with our families. It turned into an incredibly insightful session: deep and meaningful, but also full of fun, laughter, and genuine connection.

It gave us all the opportunity to learn a little more about each other’s backgrounds and experiences, and reminded us how important these moments are. It’s not always just about work, work, work, it’s about relationships, understanding, compassion, trust, and building a strong team culture together. We spend more time at work than we do at home - it`s important!!

Royston also spoke about our values, our “unquestionables,” and what it truly means to be part of the Team at B & C.

A special highlight of the day was presenting both Belinda and Raji with their 5 Years of Service medals. We are truly grateful to have these two wonderful ladies as part of our Team. Congratulations and thank you both for your dedication and contribution over the years.

Another proud moment was Adam Drinkwater presenting Tim with the Gratitude Award for the fantastic work he has been doing with Maintenance and Robotics in the factory. Adam joked that if the machines break down, he might have to take the award back though.....😂, just kidding, Tim! You absolutely deserve it.

Tim`s willingness to help others and share knowledge is just one of the many reasons he received this award this month.

A fantastic session all round, and another reminder of how lucky we are to work alongside such an amazing Team.

Shaping the Future of Manufacturing Through Real-World Experience:-

Technology is transforming manufacturing at an incredible pace, robotics, automation and AI are helping businesses scale, innovate and compete globally, but at B&C Plastics, we believe that technology is only part of the story. People remain at the centre of everything we do.

Last Thursday, we had the privilege of welcoming students and tutors from The University of Queensland’s School of Chemical Engineering to our facility as part of their Polymer Engineering industry program.

Rather than delivering a traditional presentation, our team shared real-world experiences gathered across more than 50 years in manufacturing, the successes, the challenges, the lessons learned and the constant evolution of our industry.

The visit focused on:

1. How advanced manufacturing and smart design are shaping more sustainable outcomes.

2. Why there is no substitute for experiencing a working factory firsthand.

3. The importance of human judgement, critical thinking and practical problem-solving in an increasingly automated world.

From the factory floor to polymer selection and product application, students were able to see the realities of manufacturing in action, not through simulations or videos, but through genuine interaction with people, processes and products.

We are proud to support opportunities that help bridge the gap between study and industry, and we thank Dr Céline Chaléat and The University of Queensland for continuing this valuable collaboration with B&C Plastics.

Technology is the tool. People are the driver.

27/04/2026

Following on from our Chinaplas post Kent our CEO continued his visit in China with a stop in Guangzhou at the 139th Canton Fair, one of the world’s largest platforms for global trade, import and export.

The focus here expanded beyond machinery to new possibilities in supply chains, partnerships, and innovation, opening additional directions for & C Plastics as we look to strengthen and diversify how we operate.

From there, Royston is visiting several of our current Suppliers of machinery, inspecting new machinery that will be arriving over the coming months as part of our expansion plans.

A key focus is on advancing our recycling capabilities, alongside increasing the depth and efficiency of our manufacturing operations. Local manufacturing should be at the forefront of everyone`s minds right now, we cannot be dependant upon other Countries for our Supply Chains......

If you do not already have local manufacturing on your list of things to do, consider what would happen if your current overseas supply chain broke down and you were no longer able to get supply.....

These investments are all about building a stronger, more capable future, enhancing what we can deliver locally while staying connected to global innovation.
