⚡ Case Study: Keilor Downs Heritage-Inspired Home
No Roof Penetrations. No Compromises. Challenge Accepted.
This stunning custom-built 1980s double-brick home is truly one of a kind. Designed and constructed by the original builder for his own family, the property features exposed ceilings, unique architecture, and a complex industrial long-line metal roof.
While beautiful, it presented several challenges for a solar and battery installation.
THE CHALLENGES
✅ Industrial long-line metal roof requiring a non-penetrative mounting solution
✅ Zero holes drilled through the roof
✅ Shading on the lower roof section from neighbouring trees (so optimal panel placement)
✅ Exposed internal ceilings with no roof cavity, requiring meticulous cable management
✅ Strict safety and aesthetic requirements to preserve the home's unique design
OUR SOLUTION
STAGE 1: Solar Installation
- Engineered non-penetrative clamping system
- Installed 10 x 650W LONGi high-efficiency panels
- Total capacity: 6.5kW solar array (along side with with an existing 6.6kW standard PV system installed in 2024)
- Clean, discreet wiring with minimal visual impact
STAGE 2: Battery Storage
- Installed a 48kWh GoodWe Battery System
- Designed for maximum energy independence and backup capability
STAGE 3: Electrical Upgrade
- Complete switchboard upgrade
- Future-proofed the home's electrical infrastructure
THE RESULT
🌞 13kW+ Solar PV System
🔋 48kWh Battery Storage
⚡ Whole-home blackout protection
🏡 Enhanced energy independence without compromising the home's architectural integrity
This project is a perfect example of how the right engineering, planning, and installation team can deliver premium solar solutions on even the most complex roofs.
