Our water tank had to go in before the slab — otherwise there was no way to get it through without scratching doors, walls, everything.

Now brickwork's done, tank's in place, and we can lock in the pad early + start harvesting rainwater sooner.

Most builds go quiet behind the fence. This one doesn't — we're documenting it site day by site day, including the days that don't go to plan.

The last month: roof on and watertight, roof ventilation we weren't required to install, the frame dried out and sealed before a single brick went near it, and a thirty-year-old garden fenced off and built around rather than through.

The brickwork started at the back of the house for one reason — keeping a clear run through the front for the plasterboard delivery. Start at the front and every sheet gets cut in half to get past the garden. You'd never notice it from the street. It's exactly why we sequence trades the way we do.
