DID YOU KNOW?
Cleaning processes can vary depending on the environment, the type of surfaces, and the people using the space.
In childcare centres, schools, and daycare facilities, maintaining hygienic environments is especially important due to the high level of daily contact with shared surfaces, toys, learning areas, bathrooms, and food preparation spaces. Young children and toddlers frequently share items and are more likely to place toys or objects in their mouths, while their immune systems are still developing. This makes proper cleaning and infection-control practices especially important in these environments.
Many people use the terms cleaning, sanitising, and disinfecting interchangeably, however, each process serves a different purpose.
βοΈ Cleaning
The first and most essential step. Cleaning uses approved cleaning products together with physical action such as scrubbing and wiping to remove dirt, debris, and germs from surfaces. Proper cleaning also helps sanitising and disinfecting products work more effectively.
βοΈ Sanitising
Sanitising reduces bacteria to safer public health levels and is commonly used on food-contact surfaces, high-chair trays, cafeteria tables, toys, and other shared surfaces.
βοΈ Disinfecting
Disinfecting uses stronger chemicals to destroy harmful bacteria, viruses, and fungi on high-risk and high-touch surfaces such as toilets, change tables, door handles, and bathroom areas.
Understanding the difference between these processes helps ensure the correct method is used for the correct surface and environment.
At Itronic Facility Services, we understand that every environment has different cleaning requirements. Thatβs why we follow tailored cleaning procedures based on the type of facility, the people using the space, and the level of hygiene and infection control required, ensuring the correct methods are always applied where they matter most.
