Project complete at Seafarers, Melbourne ✨

We’re proud to have delivered the mechanical services for the iconic Seafarers development on the Yarra River — a standout mixed-use project in Melbourne’s Northbank Precinct.

This award-winning development brings together heritage and innovation, combining the adaptive reuse of Goods Shed No. 5 and the historic Malcolm Moore crane with a contemporary high-rise that includes hotel, residential, conference and retail spaces.

D&E delivered:
• High-efficiency air conditioning and hydronic systems
• Centralised ventilation systems
• Integrated BMS controls

Every HVAC element was carefully coordinated to respect the heritage fabric of the site while supporting modern building performance.

Project milestone: HHW plant upgrade complete at a Melbourne CBD office tower.

Delivered under a Design & Construct contract, this upgrade was carefully planned and staged in a live building to minimise disruption for occupants.

With the original plant (instant steam boilers + HHW pumps) nearing end of life after ~30 years, the new HHW solution improves reliability and supports more efficient operation and future building upgrades.

What’s new:
• Ten modular condensing boilers, plus a makeup and expansion system
• Two HHW pumps with VSDs for real-time flow adjustment to match demand

Huge congratulations to Jaimee van Leerdam 👏🏆

Jaimee has won HVAC&R Tradesperson of the Year at the ARBS Industry Excellence Awards — one of the highest honours across Australia’s HVAC&R, building services and technology sector.

As one of four ARBS Future Leader Award recipients, she’s also been awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the ARBS Foundation to support ongoing professional development, education or research. 🙌

Jaimee is a 4th year apprentice plumber with D&E’s Geelong site team and a great example of the future talent coming through our industry.

D&E completed works on the recently opened Crowne Plaza Geelong.

Located on the waterfront, the Crowne Plaza Geelong is the largest hotel in this city, consisting of over 200 rooms and multiple facilities such as function spaces, dining areas, meeting rooms, gymnasium and pool.

The hotel forms part of the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre precinct, funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments and the City of Greater Geelong through the Geelong City Deal. It is being delivered by Development Victoria and the Plenary Conventions consortium, with Plenary Group as sponsor, investor and hotel and commercial building developer, Built as builder, Woods Bagot as architect and BGIS as facility manager.

D&E provided mechanical services to the building, comprising central plant reverse cycle heat pumps to serve heating and cooling requirements, air handling units to serve outside air and toilet exhaust requirements and custom prefabricated skids for all associated pumps and pipework.
