Is GPS always the best way to measure speed during a brake test?

Not necessarily.

While GPS works well for tracking speed over longer distances, short braking events can occur faster than many GPS systems can accurately capture. Signal obstruction, reflections and low update rates can all affect results.

That’s why the AutoStop Maxi uses a calibrated accelerometer-based system to directly measure deceleration and calculate test speed from the braking test itself.
