To start your journey into the Defe

nce Force read the steps below for further details. Y.O.U SESSION
- Aptitude Test
- Medical Interview (pre)
- Careers Interview
First you will attend a Your Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) Session at a Defence Force Recruiting Centre. The YOU Session includes several tests and an interview to determine the right role for you. ASSESSMENT SESSION
- Medical Assessment (full)
- Psychological Interview
- Defence Interview
After your YOU Session, there’s an Assessment Session. This will include a Medical Assessment, a Psychological Interview and a Defence Interview

OFFICER SELECTION BOARD
If you’re applying for an Officer role, you’ll have one additional step. The Officer Selection Board will test your leadership skills, teamwork and other individual abilities. You’ll participate in a series of group and individual activities, as well as an interview with a panel of military officers and a psychologist. PRE-ENTRY FITNESS ASSESSMENT (PFA)
- Situps 20
- Pushups 15
- Beep Test 6.1
Before you’re enlisted, you must pass the Physical Fitness Assessment. The PFA includes push-ups and sit-ups and other fitness tests. But don’t worry, you’ll get plenty of time to prepare! ENLISTMENT OR APPOINTMENT
- Medical Check (final)
- Welcome Ceremony
On your enlistment day, you will undergo a final medical check. Then you'll take part in your welcome ceremony which your family and friends are invited to attend
