Just back from volunteering at the Adelaide careers expo for CICA. It’s interesting when kids come around and talk to you about other things that you also like cars, bikes ect. I then think that’s the next crane operator in the making maybe, well hopefully

Cranes in Action: The Small Lifts That Keep Australia Moving

When we think about the crane industry, it’s often the massive infrastructure projects and towering lifts that capture attention. Across the country, large-scale works continue to showcase the power and capability of our industry.

But behind the scenes, there’s another story—one that plays out every day on job sites of all sizes.

Smaller cranes, including spider lifts and compact units, are quietly getting the job done in tight-access environments where larger machines simply can’t operate. These lifts may not always make headlines, but they are essential to keeping projects moving efficiently and safely.

A recent example comes from CICA member Komp Cranes , who successfully completed a lift on a residential construction site in Victoria. Using a compact crane manufactured by fellow industry member Meda, the team was able to navigate restricted access and deliver a precise, safe lift in a confined space.

It’s a great reminder that innovation in crane design isn’t just about size and scale—it’s also about versatility, precision, and adaptability.

From major infrastructure to residential builds, every lift matters. And it’s these smaller, everyday operations that continue to demonstrate the depth, capability, and professionalism of our industry.

All customers, our bulk fuel supplier has assured us that they have at least 2 months supply of fuel. Although this is great news, they have also told us that delivery delays and rescheduling will more than likely happen. We will do our best to make sure that we have enough fuel to get us through this period and hopefully we don't run out at anytime. As for the fuel surcharge there is not much I can do about that because next weeks delivery will be over $3.00 a litre, by how much your guess is as good as mine. But at least we're not relying on petrol stations that are often running out, like some of the other companies out there. I'd like to thank everyone for their understanding during this hard period and I have been with the help of CICA - The Crane Industry Council of Australia writing to the government on behalf of the members asking for a reduction on fuel excise
