From the inspiring panel discussions to honest conversations about mentoring and navigating different career stages, the session and structured networking which followed helped us to continue to build a supportive and energising workplace where everyone can belong.

It’s here! Our community battery at Pitcher Park in Alphington is now storing locally generated renewable energy to share with the wider community.

This is one of four community batteries we have installed within the Jemena Electricity Network in Melbourne’s north-west and is supported by the Australian Government’s Community Batteries for Household Solar program.

A big thanks to the Alphington community for their support of this battery, especially our community reference group members.

Our retail partner for the four community batteries is Origin Energy. Origin manages each battery through its virtual power plant, allowing the battery to charge when renewable energy is plentiful and discharge to support the grid during peak times.

Homes and businesses on the same low-voltage network as the community batteries automatically access the energy they store through their existing electricity supply without having to change retailers.

The battery features incredible artwork by Simone Thomson, a proud Wurundjeri and Yorta-Yorta woman.

It’s a cause we believe in - and one we were proud to support through our 2025 First Nations Grants program.

We’re again on the lookout for Aboriginal-led organisations making a difference in their communities.

💡Keeping electricity reliable for our customers

To continue improving the reliability of our electricity network in Melbourne’s north-west, we have invested in an advanced automation system known as Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration (FLISR).

FLISR monitors the network in real-time and identifies the most efficient way to restore power after a fault, reducing outage durations and improving reliability for customers. This year we have enhanced this further to manage more complex faults.

These updates help us restore supply to our customers as quickly and safely as possible if power outages do occur.

There’s a lot happening across our electricity network in Victoria to improve reliability and strengthen our resilience so we can respond quickly to power outages.

One of these initiatives is the rollout of more than 200 new remote switches installed in strategic locations - with more on the way - to help detect and isolate faults on the network automatically. When an incident occurs on the network, like damage during a storm, this allows power to be restored to unaffected areas without the need for manual intervention.

These updates help us restore supply for our customers as quickly and safely as possible if power outages do occur.
