Merredin won by a forfeit
With York unable to field a full 13’s side, it was decided to split the players into 2 even teams. It was a fantastic chance for all players to enjoy a full game without a bench and to test themselves in a variety of positions. Great energy and skills were on display, with the younger players stepping up admirably.

Merredin won by 80 points
In tough wintery conditions, with a slippery oval underfoot, the Falcons 16’s produced a strong, team-orientated performance to claim a much-deserved away victory over York by 80 points.
Firstly, a big thank you to Jake Casella, Jackson Kelly, and Tyler Geier, who played a full game for York. Each gave 100% to the York team and playing as if they were in a Falcons jumper.
Archie Bow, in Coleman Medal contention, was on the board early with two quick goals, continuing his role as a reliable scoring option. Jack Kudas showed he has more tricks in his bag, slotting a smart roving goal — his third in as many games. The highlight of the second term came when Georgia Noble nailed a brilliant running goal, with celebrations from teammates almost matching the effort itself.
With the wet ball skidding around, territory was key. Jaxon Bill drove the ball forward on consecutive plays, helping lock the Falcons inside their attacking half and making it tough for York to find scoring opportunities.
Versatility has been a hallmark of the Falcons’ season, and it was on full display. Backline stalwarts Blair Carr and Ned Truglio slotted seamlessly into the midfield, while rock-solid fullback Malakai McQuistan pushed forward in the third quarter to boot two goals. Such adaptability will be vital in the business end of the season.
The Falcons’ work rate never dropped, maintaining pressure and teamwork across all four quarters. They not only ran out the game strongly but consistently brought each other into the contest — a true team effort.
