Last week, Tim was onsite at Gilgal Grazing, a Pecan Farm development operated by Impact AG in Mount Bowman supporting the rollout of their latest automation setup.
This installation included a new B***o Grande, a custom Foliar fertiliser sprayer built by our workshop team, and a locally installed GPS base station delivering centimetre level accuracy across the orchard.
The base station underpins consistent row-to-row navigation, while the sprayer’s ultrasonic tree sensing & custom PLC enables precise, efficient and repeatable applications. Together, the system is designed to support targeted spraying with a high level of accuracy.
One of the key advantages for the team at Mount Bowman is the ability to move into night spraying, applying fertiliser when temperatures drop, with the B***o running up and down the rows autonomously. This opens up valuable daytime capacity while optimising application conditions while reducing labour and input cost
The next step in the transition is full route automation. We’ve provided a GPS torch so their current tractor operator can drive the existing night spraying routes and capture the data. That route data will then be uploaded into the B***o system, allowing the B***o to take over those established paths. Just one of the ways B***o paths can be recorded along with computer mapping.
A practical, staged approach to automation: building from existing workflows and progressively increasing autonomy to save our customers.
Awesome work Tim and the team at Gilgal Grazing 👏
