IF LAST WEEK TAUGHT YOU ANYTHING, IT’S THAT MELBOURNE GETS COLD.

We know people have already started turning their systems on for the season — which is exactly when the issues start to show.
Cold spots, air in the system, uneven heating.

SIGN 3: RISING COSTS MEAN FALLING EFFICIENCY

If your hydronic system is running longer but your home still feels cooler, it’s often a sign that efficiency is dropping.

As systems age, controls can drift, sensors lose accuracy, and heat output no longer matches demand. The system compensates by running longer and harder.

The result is higher energy bills, longer run times, and increased wear, often without an obvious fault or noise.

When efficiency drops, costs rise.
This is one of the clearest signs a service is overdue.

SIGN 2: UNUSUAL NOISES ARE OFTEN A LATE WARNING

Hydronic systems should run quietly.
When noises appear, it’s often because internal components have already been under stress for some time.

Corrosion, scale and heat fatigue can slowly damage parts inside the system, long before a fault becomes obvious.

By the time a system starts making noise, it’s often telling you something inside is already failing.

Noise isn’t the problem.
It’s the warning.

SIGN 1: UNEVEN HEATING IS A FLOW WARNING

Some rooms warm up. Some stay cold.
That’s often one of the first signs a hydronic system isn’t operating as it should.

Common causes include:

Air trapped in the system
Sludge or scale build-up is restricting water flow
Circulation or balancing issues
Valves are not operating correctly

When sludge accumulates, it reduces flow and heat transfer, forcing pumps and boilers to operate harder than necessary.

If parts of your home aren’t heating evenly, it’s worth having the system checked before winter demand increases.

Hydronic servicing is now available for 2026.

We know it’s hot right now. Very hot.

But Melbourne weather turns quickly. Cold mornings, warm afternoons, then cold again before you know it.

We’re already seeing more people switching their hydronic heating on early, just to take the edge off when those cooler days hit.

Over the next few posts, we’ll cover common hydronic issues we see every year and what to check before you turn your system on for the season.

A few minutes of checking now can help avoid a breakdown later.

New from The Enviroflo S 7.0kW Split Heat Pump

We’ve been installing heat pumps for a long time now and we’ve seen a lot of models come and go. This new Enviroflo S from is genuinely impressive. High efficiency, fast recovery and quiet enough that most people won’t notice it running.

Every home is different. Household size, solar setup, location and even how you use hot water all change what the “right” heat pump actually is. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why we look at each property properly and match the system to the home, not the other way around.

GAS VS ELECTRIC

Gas is almost always better for spas and smaller bodies of water.
If you want on-demand heating, quick turnaround, and the ability to jump in within an hour or two, gas still does it best.

Heat pumps are different. They’re designed for steady, efficient heating over time. Perfect if you use the pool regularly, want consistent temperature, and prefer lower running costs (especially with solar).

If you tell us how you use your pool or spa, we can point you in the right direction.

Today’s pool heat pumps are quieter, more efficient and more reliable than ever before.

If your system is more than 10 years old, upgrading can result in faster heat-up times and significantly lower operating costs.

For many homes, a modern unit can maintain pool temperatures using a fraction of the energy older systems needed.

If you’re considering an upgrade, we’re happy to walk through the options.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a well-earned break.
We’re back for 2026 and the team is already on the road across Melbourne and the Peninsula.

If your pool heater, hydronic system or hot water unit needs attention after the holidays, now’s a good time to book in. Summer is when pool and spa heating gets a real workout, and a quick check can save a lot of headaches.

Looking forward to helping you stay comfortable all year.
