Did you know that one third of Australian homes now have solar panels? πŸ‘ More and more panels have been installed in Australia year after year since 2016 - yes, that's right, even throughout the Covid pandemic! 🀯

Border lockdowns and supply chain disruptions fail to slow the rampant uptake of rooftop solar in Australia where householders installed record amounts of new capacity last year.

This is what a building designed specifically to maximise solar energy production looks! 😎

Nobody can accuse high-profile Dutch firm MVRDV of taking a half-hearted approach to ensuring its upcoming project Sun Rock is sustainable. Most of the building will be covered with solar panels and, according to the firm, it's expected to generate around 1 million kWh of green energy annually,…

Currently there is an inequality in terms of uptake of solar panels on homes in Australia 😞 There is little incentive for landlords to invest in solar panels when it's their tenants, not themselves, who will reap the energy bill savings. It is therefore largely homeowners who are able to cut their energy bills through installing panels - as well as take advantage of available rebates.
A joint report by the University of NSW and the Australian Photovoltaic Institute says adding solar panels to the nation’s 440,000 social housing dwellings could improve this inequity and save low-income households at least $750 πŸ’² a year while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy costs disproportionately affect poorer people, who are also less likely to have rooftop solar panels to offset the cost. A new report highlights the inequity.

BHP is one of many energy intensive mining companies investing in renewables to reduce their reliance on diesel and help them move towards net zero emissions. They're also scoping out sites for wind power generation πŸ’¨ It makes sense for their bottom line as well as their triple bottom line⭐️

Construction has started on BHP’s "first off-grid large-scale renewable energy project", totalling 38 MW of solar power and a 10.1MW/5.4 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), at two nickel mines in Western Australia which supply Tesla for use in electric vehicle (EV) batteries.
