This one’s a little overdue, but when you’re honouring someone like Carolyn, it’s worth taking the time to get it right. ❤️
On the 6th of February, we gathered to celebrate and farewell Carolyn, who officially retired after an incredible journey with LVE and Tandara.
Carolyn joined us on 29 August 2020, right as Tandara was… let’s say full of opportunities. 😄
Through floods, wild winds, fires, power outages and COVID restrictions — if Carolyn was calm, we knew everything would be okay. She brought a steady presence that anchored the whole team through every challenge.
She didn’t just help the park run — she helped rebuild it.
And the beds… so many beds. If bed making were an Olympic event, she’d be taking home gold for Australia while answering the phone and fixing the washing machine at the same time. 🥇🛏️📞
Carolyn welcomed guests with genuine warmth, supported new cabin installations, and built friendships with visitors and staff alike. She also collected more nicknames than most celebrities — Deride, Carol, Mavis, Myrtle — each one with a story behind it.
And of course, the most iconic “Carolyn moment”: losing part of her finger in a horse incident and then showing up to work like nothing happened. Anyone else would’ve taken weeks off. Not Carolyn. Honestly, she could’ve come in missing an arm and still said, “I’ll just do the paperwork today.” 💁♀️😂
Her farewell was made even more special with words shared by Steph and Ross from our Business Support Services Team, who spoke about the impact she’s had across the organisation.
So while we’re sad to say goodbye, we’re incredibly grateful. For the humour, the resilience, the heart, and the countless moments she poured into Tandara.
Carolyn, thank you.
You’ve left a lasting mark on this place and on all of us.
Enjoy every moment of your next adventure — you’ve truly earned it. ❤️
