This is the second time this ground has ever been drilled. And we just found copper sulphides 180 metres beyond our resource boundary.

That ground sits north of the Mt Chalmers pit, land from recent acquisitions that only just opened up for testing.

Here's why that's exciting for the project: the same copper system that feeds our known Mt Chalmers lodes may keep running north, potentially linking toward the nearby Botos deposit. If that holds up, the system here could be much bigger than what is defined today. Grades and continuity are still unconfirmed, with assays expected late October.

The first two holes drilled beneath Mt Chalmers' pit floor just outgraded the resource model by up to three times.

That ground has sat under the flooded pit lake since mining stopped, reachable only by historical drilling. A pontoon-mounted rig just became the first to put fresh, modern core through it, giving the 2024 resource model its first real test against new data.

Both holes came in close to 20% above the block model, and the richest zone, a zinc-lead-gold-silver lens at the top of the system, outgraded it further still.

• 43.7m averaging 1.31% CuEq from 23.3m in the first hole, against 1.10% CuEq modelled
• Including 2.7m at 7.5% CuEq (1.29% Cu, 4.44g/t Au, 109g/t Ag, 5.25% Zn, 3.04% Pb) at the top of the zone
• 24.3m averaging 0.99% CuEq from 42.7m in the second hole, against 0.84% CuEq modelled

East Coast Research has raised its target price on QMines again, to $0.24, up from $0.21 in April.

ECR's own modelling puts the implied upside at 233% from the current share price, an independent view backed by real movement since its last report: a fully funded feasibility study, an expanding regional resource base and stronger copper prices.

• $15 million from QIC now fully funds the Mt Chalmers DFS

• Mount Mackenzie's gold resource has grown to 170,000 ounces, most of it now Indicated

• A nine-hole drilling programme is underway on land QMines acquired next to the Botos deposit in September

We just doubled our drilling program.

That's 20,000 metres now running across Mt Chalmers, Botos and Woods Shaft, up from the 10,000 metre campaign we started the year with, more capacity to chase up what we're already finding and test priority targets faster.

Assay results from our barge drilling program at Mt Chalmers, the first time we've tested directly beneath the historic open pits in over 40 years, are now imminent. Botos and Woods Shaft are also turning in parallel.

• Mt Chalmers: 24-hole diamond program, ~2,500m, drilling beneath the historic pits since 29 July, assay results imminent

• Botos: 64-hole, 11,360m RC and diamond program, underway since 9 September

• Woods Shaft: 39-hole, 7,000m program targeting extensions to the existing 0.54Mt copper-gold resource

The deepest drill hole at Mt Chalmers was still returning copper.

It's one result from our ongoing 10,000m drilling campaign, part of the work building out our Central Queensland copper-gold hub. The rig moved on to test new ground, not because the copper ran out: every metre drilled kept showing copper, right through the final half-metre before it pulled out.

That means the deposit's depth extent here is currently defined by where the campaign chose to stop, not by where the mineralisation does. Whether it goes deeper is a question for the next hole, not one this one has answered.

• 7m at 1.02% Cu from 111m, including 2m at 2.53% Cu
• 24m at 0.46% Cu from 121m
• Final 0.5m sample: 2.05% Cu, at the end of hole

Most approval pathways move one step at a time. Ours are moving at once.

Environmental approvals, community engagement and technical studies at Mt Chalmers are running in parallel, not one after another. It's the unglamorous work that decides how fast a mine actually gets built.
