Thinking of installing solar on your commercial property, or have a tenant approach you with the request for solar? Here's why it could be a smart move.

Installing solar panels can increase appeal to eco-conscious tenants and enhance your property's long-term value, while opening up opportunities for passive revenue generation.

But what about the risks? Roof integrity, tenant changes, and future-proofing the system?

With the right partner, these risks can be effectively mitigated. Look for:
✔️ Certified, engineered solar systems tailored to your roof type
✔️ Structural assessments before installation
✔️ Warranties on both product and workmanship
✔️ A clear exit plan if the tenant moves on

Whether you retain the system or remove it, professional decommissioning ensures your asset remains protected.

For this month's article, we dove deeper into why solar can be a win for both tenant and landlord.

Urban Renewable Generation has enormous potential to support Australia's energy transition. But what's needed to make it a reality?

1. Roofspace and excess land for infrastructure such as solar panels and batteries
2. Incentives to encourage investment in systems that can contribute energy to the grid and act as a solar sponge
3. An increase in private investment with demonstrated return on investment.

This week is the Refrigerated Warehouse & Transport Association of Australia Ltd (RWTA) National Conference, a fantastic opportunity to connect with cold chain leaders and discuss the future of refrigerated warehousing and transport in Australia.

One recurring theme: the challenges facing cold storage operators.
🔹 Rising energy costs due to 24-hour refrigeration requirements
🔹 Pressure to reduce carbon emissions
🔹 Ageing infrastructure in need of modernisation

Amid these challenges, innovative solutions are emerging. A standout example is Fresh Freight, where a 500kW solar system is helping to power cold storage sustainably and cut operating costs. Fresh Freight Tasmania are projected to achieve annual savings of over $160,000 in the first year of operation.

Transmission is our biggest bottleneck.

Australia plans to build 10,000 km of new transmission lines to Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) by 2050, costing $16 billion. In the interim, homes and businesses may face increasing energy volatility during the transition to renewables.

Our whitepaper outlines how urban solar and batteries can reduce strain on the grid, support longer term renewable energy projects, and improve energy resilience.

“Urban solar and storage can be deployed right now, at scale, and at speed.”

The Renewables in Agriculture Conference is tomorrow, a key opportunity for agribusinesses to explore how renewable energy can improve resilience and cut costs.

We attended last year and gained valuable insights from the industry about energy challenges and opportunities, including:
♻️ Sustainability reporting is becoming increasingly mandatory, with 96% of the world’s largest companies now disclosing their ESG practices
♻️ Self-sufficiency is increasingly important as black and brown outs threaten stock loss
♻️ Agribusinesses are capitalising on renewables not just for cost savings, but also to generate passive income.

The The Australian Wine Industry Technical Conference kicks off next week. Held every three years since 1970, it’s set to welcome over 1,000 delegates in Adelaide.

At Acacia Energy, we recognise that peak energy demands during vintage can significantly drive cost pressures for winemakers.

Here’s how we’ve helped three producers slash their overheads and boost sustainability:
🍇 Yering Station added 140 kW of solar PV to their existing 100kW of solar, plus a 550 kVA biodiesel generator. That not only ensures continuous operation through outages but also unlocks revenue by selling surplus electricity via our Optimisation and Bid Engine platform.

🍇 De Bortoli Wines installed a 100 kW ground-mounted solar system, achieving a 60% cut in grid energy use, saving over $40,000 annually, and reducing CO₂ emissions by 139 tonnes per year.

🍇 Andrew Peace Wines deployed a 1 MW solar array alongside three 500 kVA biodiesel generators, delivering $710,000 in annual energy savings and cutting grid dependency by 42% in year one of operation.

We're here to help wine businesses navigate rising energy costs and peak demand surcharges with smart, sustainable solutions.

In Australia, 58% of consumers now say that sustainable winemaking is more important to them than it was two years ago, reflecting a growing interest in
