On Monday 14 April 2025, Sheena Watt (Victorian Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Action & emergency Services) visited Moyola Aged Care in Tatura to view the first Neighbourhood battery installed and commissioned under the Victorian Government’s 100Neighbourhood Batteries Program. GV Community Energy received funding and contracted Future NRG to install this 108kW battery storage system. Surplus electricity generated from Moyola’s rooftop solar array is stored in these batteries for use each evening.

As part of the Victorian Government’s 100Neighbourhood Battery program, GV Community Energy has engaged Future NRG to install 8 x 13.5kWh Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries for Moyola Aged Care in Tatura.

These batteries will soak up excess rooftop solar electricity for use when the sun isn’t shining. This will save Moyola around $6,300/year off their electricity bill.

Installing solar panels on top of supermarket car parks, like at Tatura IGA, offers multiple benefits. It generates clean energy, reducing both costs and carbon footprint, while providing shade and protection for parked vehicles. Solar-powered EV charging stations allow electric vehicles to recharge while customers shop, promoting green transportation. By using existing space, supermarkets avoid the need for extra infrastructure, and excess energy can be fed back into the grid, benefiting both the business and the community. Goulburn Valley Community Energy can supply car park covered with solar panels.
