🚨 Queensland Smoke Alarm Legislation – Important Reminder 🚨
By 1 January 2027, all Queensland homes must be fitted with interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms that comply with current legislation.
What’s required:
✅️Smoke alarms inside every bedroom
✅️In hallways outside bedrooms
✅️On every level of the home
✅️Alarms must be interconnected (if one sounds, they all sound)
✅️Must be hardwired or powered by a 10-year non-removable battery
This legislation applies to existing homes, rental properties, and property sales under a phased rollout.
⚠️ Penalties apply for non-compliance — fines may be issued, and for property sales a 0.15% adjustment of the purchase price can apply if smoke alarm requirements aren’t met.
