It’s been another big year at Mt Arthur Coal as we progress towards closure of the operation in 2030 and work to leave a positive legacy for the Upper Hunter.

In 2025 we've continued to:

✔️support the workforce with free financial advice, training opportunities and career coaching;
✔️explore land reuse options that include environmental rehabilitation as well as opportunities that create a new generation of jobs and industries; and
✔️seek solutions that balance community, business, regulatory and environmental needs.

Bringing some festive cheer this Christmas! 🎁🎄🎁
Mt Arthur Coal are long-time supporters of the 2NM Power FM Christmas Food and Toy Appeal which provides hampers and gifts to hundreds of families in need in the Upper Hunter region every Christmas.

In addition to our $5,000 corporate donation, the Mt Arthur Coal team has rallied together to donate dozens of toys this year.
This Appeal wouldn’t be possible without Blackroo Community Indigenous Corporation which coordinates the collection and distribution of donations.

They’re still in need of volunteers to help wrap all the gifts, so if you have a few spare hours between now and Christmas, please drop into the Indoor Sports Centre at Rutherford Road between 9am – 5pm to help bring the Christmas spirit to everyone in our community.

Game, set and match 🎾

Scone Tennis Club recently held the grand opening for their spectacular new clubhouse.

The Club was a recipient of one of MAC’s Benefiting My Community grants and used the funds to landscape the surrounding gardens.

Mt Arthur Coal's Production OCE Alex, Scone Hardcourt Tennis Association President Kirsty Cole, and Member for Upper Hunter Dave Layzell MP, were on hand for the grand opening of the new space with the landscaping funded through a Benefiting My Community grant!

Congratulations!

Breast be aware 🎗️

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our contracting partner, Thiess, gave a haul truck a makeover with a new pink truck emblazing the breast cancer awareness logo.

This truck sure is DRIVING a lot of awareness 😎 Go Thiess

Earlier this year we introduced the Grassroots Sponsorship Grants program which, twice a year, offers $2,000 sponsorship opportunities for local sporting clubs and community groups. The winners of this program are voted on by the MAC team themselves.

In just its second round, the winners were…… *drumroll please*…….

• Singleton Hospital Auxiliary
• Aberdeen Junior Rugby League Football Club Incorporated
• Muswellbrook High School - Livestock Show Team
• Muswellbrook Football Club
• Wonnarua Wayila
• Singleton mountain bike club
• Scone Thoroughbreds Junior Rugby League (pictured)
• Scone Junior Rugby Union
• Singleton Public School P&C

It’s a great initiative and if you want your community group to be in the running, keep your eyes out for the next round of grants which will open in February 2026.

Another one for the trophy cabinet 🏆 👏

We’re committed to leaving a positive legacy, and we were ecstatic to see our partners, Robson Civil Projects, win Engineering Success of the Year Award at the 2025 Australian Mining Prospects Award for their land rehabilitation works at MAC.

This project has been kicking goals across land rehabilitation, seed planting, woodland revegetation, pest management and creating animal habitats 🐨🌿

When your whole squad levels up 😎

MAC Lead Geologist, Jacquie, is one of 400 teammates so far who have taken up the opportunity for career coaching as part of our preparations for the 2030 closure.

This coaching isn’t just about helping our teammates with their careers post-closure, Jacquie shared with us how this experience was already helping her in her current role.

You can read more about Jacquie’s story and how the MAC team is already level-ing up in this article. Link in comments. ⬇️
