We are loving the mixture of traditional and modern elements for this duplex design. With particularly tight floor space requirements, the modern duplex can prove to be quite a challenge from a design perspective. This design seeks to take full advantage of the northern aspect by allowing natural light to flow through the front facade deep into the interior.

I spent the last week reviewing this duplex. Suffice to say there were many issues identified with the steelwork which then impacted slab, frames, etc.

The cost-saving power of 3-D modeling never ceases to amaze me. I am not sure what the exact $$$ saved on this project will be for the builder, but considering the price of pre-fabricated frames, and steel I wager it would be significant. Not to mention the time saved on-site from a well-conceived set of construction plans.
