This week, Maali Mechanical was recognised by the Shire of East Pilbara in the NAIDOC Aboriginal Owned Business category — an honour we don't take lightly. 🌟

But recognition like this doesn't belong to a name on a certificate. It belongs to our people.

Every job we complete, every client we deliver for, every milestone we reach — it's built on the hands, heart and grit of the crew who show up and give their best, day in and day out. Our supervisors, tradespeople, apprentices, scaffolders, riggers, operators, trade assistants and the team behind the scenes. You are Maali.

We've always believed that without our people, we are nothing. This award is proof of what happens when you back good people, give them a genuine opportunity, and trust them to rise to it. Watching individuals step into the workforce, build their confidence and skills, and create better futures for themselves and their families — that's the work we're most proud of.

Today was a special one for our team—stepping away from the ground and coming together for something bigger than the game. As part of our team bonding exercise, we dedicated our time and effort to cleaning and preparing the space generously provided by one of our valued supporters, Loloma Tours & Transfers

As we celebrate Ratu Sukuna Day, we reflect on the values he stood for—leadership, service, and loyalty to our people. Today, we carried those values as a team, strengthening not just our environment, but our bond as one family.

Today our whanau and work colleagues gathered at Eastern Ridge to mark 26 years since the fatality of Uncle David TeMoananui.

Every year we come together to remember him and every year BHP honours his memory with us.

For our Maali Mechanical team, this day is the reason behind every toolbox talk, every prestart, everytime we pull each other up on a shortcut.

A fatality on site is never just a statistic. It’s a father who didn’t come home, a husband, an uncle, a workmate. A family that carries it for the rest of their lives.

Because everyone deserves to return home to their families.

Not a slogan. A standard.

On behalf of Aunty Babe, Catrina & whanau - thank you to everyone who reached out, attended, or carried him in their thoughts today. Knowing he Is remembered by so many means everything to our whanau.

There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing young Indigenous talent thrive whether it’s helping someone take the first step in their career, guiding them toward leadership, or simply making space where their voices are heard and valued.
Every opportunity we help create—big or small—is a step toward stronger communities, deeper cultural pride, and a future where Indigenous youth can walk confidently in both worlds.
It’s more than just work. It’s purpose.
