Return of the Sun King: Sunman announces the world's first lightweight solar gigawatt factory.. huge benefits for Australia's transition to clean energy, unlocking solar for many commercial rooftops that otherwise couldn't handle conventional glass panels!

On January 8th 2022, Sunman announced the worlds first large scale production facility for lightweight solar skins. These new solar skins will accelerate Australia's transition to clean energy. Sunman's revolutionary eARC solar technology allows 40% of commercial rooftops which previously couldn't house solar glass panels, to now have solar energy. The patented technology developed by the Sunking and professor at the university of NSW, Dr. Shi and the Sunman team, is thin, flexible and weighs less than 3kg as opposed to 15kg for glass panels. This means slender, thin, waterproof, glass, curved roofs and building facades in Australia can now have solar panels (or skins) applied to their surfaces. eARC solar skins have the same performance as glass panels, without the glass. Meaning more Australian's can benefit from having solar energy for their business, save in energy costs every year, with the same reliability, durability and performance of glass panels. Not to mention they come with 25 year performance warranties and a 10 year installation warranty with Energus. If you have a thin roof, a roof that cannot bear much weight or uplift, a heritage building, a glass surface, curved surface or can't having mounting applied to your roof - then eArc is your solution. It glues straight onto your roof without any need for mounting.

To find out more and how we can install eArc for you, and your business can start saving right now with solar energy, then head to energus's website at www.energus.com.au - make the switch to solar today and start saving. Go solar.

Solar photovoltaic pioneer Professor Martin Green says solar module prices will continue to plummet, reaching 10 US cents per watt by 2023, around half their current prices, resulting in what he called “insanely cheap electricity.”

Not all rooftops can bear the weight of glass modules. Some others have curves and shapes ill-suited to uniform, bulky panels. Flexible modules have long been advanced as the solution here, however the keys to unlocking this potential have proven illusive.

Thin-film modules are up to stiff competition, from cSi, perovksite and tandem-junctions..

Glass shortage has put a strain on the global supply of photovoltaic modules. While this strain is expected to recover by the end of Q2, there has been increased interest from the market in alternative technologies, such as eArc. Market-proven module technologies, glass or glass-free, have a big role to play as we work towards carbon neutrality.

Shanghai-based solar module manufacturer Sunman has warned government-imposed restrictions on the manufacture of glass in China could have an enormous effect on Australia’s booming solar industry.
