James parked the SBC machine in victory lane to take his first career Feature Race win - well done!
Wow - what a night! To say that the team is happy would be an understatement. Our night started off with an uncharacteristically slow time trial. We set out for the heat race knowing the kart was off, most probably due to a clutch issue, eventually finishing P3.
We then headed out for the first Feature Race starting P5 and having to manage the clutch issue. Unfortunately, James had to head infield with an electrical issue and recorded a DNF. Things weren’t looking good until Paul Peet sorted out the electrical issue utilising a complex zip tie structure, and Tim Boujos fixed the clutch issue – thank you both for your help.
The second feature race was a full invert, so James was starting from pole. He managed to pull away at the start and every subsequent restart to lead every lap and claim his very first Feature Race win!
Thanks to 91 MOTORSPORT for all of your support in setting us on this journey, and it was fitting that Brock Francis also won an Open Feature race. Getting a photo of them both on the top step together as race winners in their respective classes was the perfect end to the night.
We are not done yet – this is just the beginning.
Thanks to Boilertronics and FourSeven Outlaw Karts Australia for sponsoring the magnificent Twin Feature event - and an extra special thanks to the master kart builder Trevor Reynolds for building our rocket.
