This local gathering at The Ripe Hub (Nowra, Yuin Nation) is designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytellers to develop, share, and publish their stories.
Whether you are just starting your writing journey or already have a manuscript or idea, this program provides a culturally safe and supportive space to:
✅Explore storytelling and writing skills
✅Develop your book or story idea
✅Learn about publishing pathways
✅Connect with a wider community of First Nations storytellers
FNWF’s work is rooted in ensuring First Nations stories are told in the authors’ own voices, helping preserve cultural knowledge, oral histories, and lived experiences for future generations while sharing them globally.
📖 Why This Matters
First Nations storytelling has long been shared through oral traditions. Today, initiatives like FNWF are creating pathways to capture and publish these stories, ensuring they are not lost and are recognised worldwide.
The festival is more than a writing program — it is a movement that:
✅Celebrates cultural identity and knowledge
✅Creates publishing opportunities
✅Supports emerging and established First Nations authors
Strengthens communities through storytelling
As the festival believes: when you raise one author, you raise a whole community. Website: https://firstnationswritersfestival.org
