Congratulations to Steve “Woodsy” Wood on 10 years’ service with PYBAR!

This isn’t Steve’s first rodeo with PYBAR, having returned to us following a couple of previous stints, starting back in 2006 at the Parkes workshop.

Currently Maintenance Foreman at PYBAR’s Sunday Creek project in Victoria, Steve has gained his vast skills and experience on many PYBAR projects over the years, including Northparkes, CSA, Tritton, Mineral Hill, Cadia, Peak, Woodlawn, our Raise Bore Division and the Orange head office workshop.

Cool and contemplative, Steve is a quiet achiever who doesn’t say much; so, when he speaks, people listen! What follows is often wise, comedic or a “setting-straight” if required. The quality of Steve’s workmanship certainly speaks for itself, and he was recognised as PYBAR’s Runner up Employee of the year for 2024.

Outside of work, Steve is a dedicated family man and keen sports fan, spending weekends following his kids’ representative sporting events or cheering on his beloved Dragons in the NRL.

After a fantastic few days, the 2026 Diggers and Dealers Mining Forum has officially come to a close.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to have a chat with us and our Thiess Group colleagues this week.

Diggers is always a great opportunity to connect with people from across the mining industry, have genuine conversations and hear what's happening across the sector. We really appreciate everyone who took the time to visit our stand and learn more about what we do.

A trusted and capable leader and all-round decent human being, Bill Walls has been a highly valued member of PYBAR’s project management team for the past 15 years.

Currently based at PYBAR’s Rosebery mine project in Tasmania, Bill has gained experience across many of PYBAR’s project sites over the years, starting as foreman at Mount Isa Mines before going on to project manager roles at PYBAR’s Mount Isa Copper Operations, King Vol and Black Rock projects in Queensland and Dargues in New South Wales.

Bill is very well regarded across our industry and is often sought after by our clients who know their project is in reliable hands with Bill. He is always willing to share his knowledge and has played a major role in the professional development of many of our engineers, mine foreman, shift bosses and operators.

Congratulations on 15 wonderful years with PYBAR, Bill! We are so proud to have you on our team.
