On World Refrigeration Day we're celebrating not just the technology that keeps the world cool, but the science behind making sure it works as well as it possibly can.

We've just commissioned a new purpose-built compressor calorimeter and completed its first full-scale test run in our SuperTest facility. The system is built around a fully integrated vapour compression refrigeration circuit with advanced digital PID controls, delivering highly controlled and repeatable test conditions for both belt-driven and electric compressors used in transport and mobile HVAC applications.

“The main outputs of the calorimeter allow us to accurately determine compressor capacity and power consumption under controlled conditions," says SuperCool Managing Director, Mark Mitchell.

"This data can be translated into performance curves and thermodynamic diagrams that are critical for engineering validation. This is a significant achievement for our engineering team and elevates our SuperTest facility in Australia to a level comparable with leading global testing centres.”

Two bikes, two days, a whole lot of fun, and one class trophy! 🏁

The SuperCool Competitions Department recently headed to Morgan Park Raceway for the inaugural Condamine Classic. Our Yamaha AS3-GYT 125 swept all four races to take the Period 4 ultra-lightweight class win, while our newly restored TD3 250 made its competitive debut, with the crew working through carburettor tuning challenges between races to finish 4th in class. Solid progress for a first outing.

The same skills that drive us every day at SuperCool - problem-solving under pressure, teamwork, and continuous improvement - were on full display at Morgan Park. Racing just happens to be a pretty fun way to practise them.

Brett Meads, our Head of Training, demonstrates in these photos how a 3.2mm (1/8”) drill hole in an alloy AC pipe can be repaired in multiple steps using BurgaBRAZE. This kind of damage might be typical of a ‘rub-through’ from a bracket or cable, or damage from a screw or bolt.

Brett explains that the unique flux chemistry of BurgaBRAZE allows alloy pipes that have been in service to be easily repaired. The alloy composition also provides the perfect working temperature envelope for use on AC grade extruded alloy pipes.

Our business colleagues and friends have asked us why we have established the SuperCool Competitions Department. Here's some background to the story....

It's a team-wide initiative that brings our engineers, sales crew, and warehouse team together around a shared challenge: maintaining and racing historic Yamaha motorcycles. Family ties have led us to working with three classic machines - a 1972 Yamaha 125 AS3-GYT, 250 TD3, and 350 TR3 - lovingly restored and back on the track where they belong.

Why? Because the skills that make a winning race machine are the same ones that make a winning business: problem-solving, precision, logistics, teamwork, agility, and a relentless drive to do things properly.

It's a chance to learn new things, work on something with our hands, stretch our skills in a completely different direction, feel the visceral thrill of being trackside, and have some genuine fun while we're at it!
