This shot from our latest Competitions Department event shows our team Khoi, Danny, Jim and Mark huddled around our Yamaha 125 bike, working on a problem together.

That's par for the course in historic motorcycle racing.

It's also par for the course at work.

Clear-headed problem-solving, trusting each other under pressure, staying upbeat when a plan falls apart, and genuinely enjoying the process are part of what makes our team great, both on and off the track.

Over the Big Chill weekend at Morgan Park, we kept pushing through challenges, walking away with a race win, a runner-up finish in the Period 4 Lightweight class, as well as second overall in the South East Queensland Cup.

When time goes wrong: what does the Telstra outage teach us about accuracy?

The recent Telstra outage caused servers to reset to the year 2006 during routine maintenance. That single wrong date rippled across the network, causing chaos across the country. Several small errors led to this failure: a missed software update, an undocumented change, a maintenance process that didn't reflect the equipment's true state.

It's a reminder of something we take seriously every day at SuperTest: accuracy and precision are non-negotiable.

Synchronising phones, computers, dataloggers and stopwatches helps us maintain accuracy with all test schedules carried out at SuperTest, both for our NATA-accredited tests and our bespoke programs. Just as importantly, we document changes to our equipment and procedures thoroughly, so that accuracy doesn’t depend on any one person’s memory of how a system is configured.

Thanks to the speakers on the Metcash Food Expo Partner Power Session last week - joining SuperCool's Rene Le Miere for some insightful discussions were Jelena Franjić, Graeme Dewerson, Paul Campbell and Ricky Gatti, all of whom shared practical insights around energy efficiency, refrigeration and maintenance.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Gold Coast Exhibition Centre, the SuperCool team had some great conversations with expo attendees on all the ways we can support independent retailers to lower their energy bills and deliver fresher, safer food to customers.

The Neutronics Legend ID 1234yf tells a technician what is in a system before recovery begins. It reads the purity of R1234yf and R134a, identifies R12, R22, hydrocarbons and unknown gases, and reports the percentage of air in an otherwise pure charge.

As part of the HVAC/R industry, we believe the commercial sector holds real power to influence positive change. Guided by a think globally, act locally mindset, we’re increasingly focusing our efforts on the communities right on our doorstep.

One of these fantastic community initiatives, Joomunjie Land, is just a few kilometres from SuperCool’s headquarters on the Gold Coast. Communal, child-led play spaces like this are simple in concept, but profound in impact – bringing children, families and neighbours back together around something fundamental but in rapid decline: play.

This 'Neighbourhood Backyard' is now the subject of an uplifting documentary launching in July, inviting people to see what’s possible when communities come together and focus on children and play.
