I’m pretty crap at photography, but here are a few of my latest works.

Antler & brass, purpleheart & brass, and Indian laurel with brass pins. There’s clearly a bit of a theme developing with the brass…

All are available for purchase. Although, I’ll admit I’m rather attached to them — something I’m going to have to learn to live with as a maker.

These knives are all imperfectly perfect. I’ve learnt a hell of a lot making them, and I finally feel like I’m starting to achieve what I set out to do.

I’m also now starting to offer knife-making and blacksmithing classes at OX Forge. If you’ve ever wanted to have a crack at making your own knife or just hit some hot steel with a hammer, drop me a message via Messenger or email [email protected].

I’ll be posting pricing and class options soon, but I’m also happy to hear what people would actually like to learn or make.

Thanks for following along with the journey.

Welp! Accidentally left this one in the acid overnight…. A heavy etch to say the least.

Starting a butchers slash (pun intended) brisket knife.

34 layers of delicious Damascus shaped up on a new (new to me) anvil.

Any suggestions on the next style I should try?

I don’t really make knives with a fixed plan.

They kind of come out of whatever’s going on in the moment — heat, steel, timing, mistakes, fixes. It’s a process I trust more than I think about.

This part in the video is me etching Damascus in a coffee mix. It’s simple, a bit rough, and honestly one of my favourite parts of the whole build. You finally get to see what’s been hidden in the steel the whole time.

My knives are rarely perfect — but in that way, they feel like a perfect expression of the process. Nothing forced. Nothing overthought. Just honest work in steel.

The forge is also where I switch off. It’s not about deadlines or requirements or noise from everything else going on in life. It’s just work, rhythm, and focus. For me it’s been a good place to process things without needing to explain them.

That’s part of why I’m starting to open it up more and run classes. Not just to teach knife making, but to give other people a space to get their hands dirty, focus on something real, and step away from everything else for a while.

If that sounds like something you’d be into, send me a message. I’ll be running small sessions to start with and keeping it pretty hands-on.
