This week volunteers from Byrnecut, BOAB and Jetcrete took part in our annual visit to Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia for their Home for Dinner program.

The team cooked a lovely meal for the families staying at the house, and delivered the generously donated items from our staff from across the Group to support those spending the festive period away from home with sick children.

It’s always such a special experience, especially at this time of year. Thank you to RMHC WA for having us again!

This month we’re celebrating a rare milestone, four of our team members reaching 20 years of service, all of whom began their journey with Byrnecut at the same site.

Back in the mid 2000’s Allan Shawyer, Ashley Campbell, Ben Cherry and Craig Smith (or “Billson” as most of us know him) all worked together at our Telfer operations. Two decades later, they’re still with us and have since gone on to shape our business in different but equally important ways.

Allan started as a Storeperson at Telfer before moving to Head Office as Training Coordinator. He’s trained thousands of our people, often being the first impression for new starters. Known for his warm and approachable manner, Allan plays a vital role in developing our workforce.

Ashley worked as SEQT Manager at Telfer before taking on an Area Manager role and is now our Group SEQT Manager. Over the years, he’s overseen many of our sites and people, contributing to the strong systems and safety culture we rely on today.

Ben began in maintenance at Telfer before progressing through to a Superintendent role and now works as our Maintenance Operations Manager. With his broad knowledge and experience, Ben is a key source of expertise across our operations. If you need an answer, chances are Ben knows it.

Craig (“Billson”) also started at Telfer in maintenance, later working across our Gwalia, Jundee, and Prominent Hill operations in roles from Leading Hand to Superintendent. Now a Maintenance Area Manager, Billson is a quiet and well respected leader supporting our raise drilling entity Raising Australia.

We’re proud to announce that our General Manager (Australia) Craig Barendrecht will be representing Byrnecut in Miner v Wild 2025.

Craig, along with 7 other leaders from across the mining industry and an ex-SAS guide will be dropped via helicopter in the Kimberley with only survival equipment and limited supplies. For 5 days, they will trek through remote and rugged terrain to raise vital funds and awareness for Youth Focus.

Please join us in wishing Craig luck as he trades his office for the remote East Kimberley!
