๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ“ฆ The Parcel Post Puzzle โ€“ Prosecution to Prevention in Illicit Drug Importation

Join us for an insightful presentation by Felicity Pagan (Australian Federal Police) as she explores how forensic science is being used not only to support prosecutions, but also to disrupt transnational organised crime networks.

Australian law enforcement remains in a constant arms race with organised crime to detect and disrupt illicit drug imports. Through a fascinating real-world case study, Felicity will examine an investigation involving nine parcel post items sent from Europe to addresses across Australia, leading to the arrest and prosecution of two foreign nationals in Perth.

Discover how Australian Federal Police Forensics applied DNA, fingerprint and handwriting analysis to link parcels, identify multiple offenders, and generate intelligence shared with international partners. The presentation will highlight both the opportunities and challenges of expanding forensic practice beyond traditional court proceedings to support the disruption of organised crime domestically and offshore.

Felicity Pagan is a Crime Scene Investigator with the Australian Federal Police based in Perth. Beginning her career as a Forensic Biologist in Canberra, she has over a decade of specialist forensic experience and has contributed to investigations spanning criminal paternity, disaster victim identification, counter-terrorism, and illicit drug importation. Her work has also taken her internationally, including forensic deployments to Canada and Colombia.
