Bringing Earth Science to Life at Norseman District High School!

Last week, a couple of staff from our Nova Operation swapped the mine site for the classroom, teaming up with the Australian Earth Science Education program to spend the day with students at Norseman District High School.
Environmental Superintendent Murray and Mine Geology Superintendent Glenn made the trip from Nova to share their real-world expertise with the next generation of scientists, geologists, and environmental stewards. ๐Ÿ‘
The kids dove into some big topics, including:
๐ŸŒŠ The Carbon Cycle โ€“ exploring how carbon moves through our atmosphere, land, and oceans, and why it matters for our planet's future
โ˜„๏ธ Meteorite Impact Craters โ€“ uncovering what these ancient scars can tell us about the history of our solar system
โ›๏ธ Mine & Personal Safety โ€“ putting safety knowledge into action with a hands-on, fun-filled treasure hunt in the sandpit!

Days like this are especially valuable for students in remote and regional communities, giving them the chance to engage directly with industry professionals and see firsthand where their learning and interests could take them.

It's always a highlight for our team to connect with the local community and inspire curiosity about the science that shapes our industry and our world. A huge thank you to the staff and students at Norseman District High School and Jo from Australian Earth Science Education for such a fantastic day! ๐Ÿ™Œ Ltd a Difference

It was fantastic to join fellow industry organisations including our valued Community Partners Future Female Leaders and Australian Earth Science Education at the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA Inspiring Girls Career Forum.

This event brings together female secondary school students (Years 10โ€“12) to showcase the breadth of opportunities in the resources sector, and to inspire them by connecting with successful women already building careers in our industry.
Several of our IGO team members hosted tables on the day, spending the morning sharing their own career journeys and walking students through the many entry pathways into the resources sector from trades and technical roles to engineering, geoscience, and beyond.

It's conversations like these that help open doors and show the next generation of talent just how many paths there are into a career in resources.
Thank you to CME for hosting such a valuable event, and to all the students who brought their curiosity and energy on the day!

We're proud to announce IGO is deepening our long-standing partnership with Ronald McDonald House WA.

What began with our people getting involved in Up All Night has grown into a meaningful partnership spanning nine years.

We're delighted to continue our role as Presenting Partner of Up All Night, WA's only overnight marathon, while also expanding our support through sponsorship of the Ronald McDonald House Family Room in Fun on Four at Perth Children's Hospital. A space that served over 67,000 families and patients in 2025, providing comfort and connection during some of life's most challenging moments.

This next chapter not only strengthens support for WA families but also creates more opportunities for our people to contribute their time, skills and experience to an organisation making a genuine difference in our community.

"This partnership reflects what matters most to IGO: supporting the communities where we live and work. We're incredibly proud of the role our people have played in building this relationship over the past nine years, and we're excited to continue supporting Ronald McDonald House WA as they provide vital care, comfort and connection for WA families when they need it most." Ivan Vella, CEO IGO

Thank you to the team at Ronald McDonald House WA for the incredible work you do every day, and for allowing IGO to play a part in supporting families with ill or injured children across Western Australia.

Growing our partnership with Perth Zoo, one tree at a time.

Our relationship with Perth Zoo has evolved over the years and this year, IGO teamed up with Perth Zoo on a new initiative that's a little different from our usual support. We donated a batch of Treerings Australia, a precision fertiliser system designed to improve how trees establish, grow and thrive, giving new trees the best possible start.
A group of keen IGO volunteers, and Tyron from Treerings Australia then joined Perth Zoo staff at one of their plantations to put those tree rings to work, planting over 320 trees and fitting them out to help the Agonis flexuosa (peppermint) take root. Once established, these trees will become an important food source for the Zoo's resident Western Ringtail Possums, who get through a serious amount of leaf browse every single day.

It's a great example of how our partnership with Perth Zoo continues to grow, supporting conservation, animal welfare and the local environment in ways that go beyond a donation, with our people getting directly involved in the work on the ground.

Proud of our volunteers for getting their hands dirty for a great cause, and grateful to Perth Zoo for the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way.

IGO is thrilled to be a Ecualyptus Sponsor for CoRE Learning Foundation. This partnership is a natural alignment with our organisational values and our commitment to STEM education. The opportunity for our staff to witness CoRE's hands-on approach in action, and the spark it creates in developing minds is something we greatly value. It's exactly the kind of impact we want to support!
We believe investing in STEM education today means investing in the innovators of tomorrow.
