Work, Health & Safety Advisor
Part-Time, 2–3 days a week in Welshpool, WA, $120,000 pro-rata

About Us
Performance Mine Mechanical (PMM) is a busy mechanical workshop in Welshpool, WA, keeping the mining and heavy industry sector moving through mechanical repairs, fabrication, and site services. Forklifts, overhead cranes, lifting gear, and heavy loads move through our workshop every day — so safety here isn't a poster on the wall. It's how the place runs.

About the Role
This is a newly created role, and it's a big one: we're bringing WHS fully in-house and handing you the keys. No external provider looking over your shoulder, no shared ownership — you'll build, run, and shape the safety program.

You'll be the person people come to — for incident management, workplace inspections, risk registers, toolbox talks, procedures, and, just as importantly, for growing a workshop culture where people genuinely look out for each other. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with our Safety Representatives and workshop leadership, with a direct line to the General Manager and Director when it counts.

If you've spent your career being one voice in a safety committee, this is different: it's your program, your call, your impact.

What You'll Be Doing
• Driving initiatives that grow a genuinely positive, proactive safety culture — not just a compliant one
• Owning incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting through SiteDocs, from first report to verified close-out
• Getting out on the floor — conducting workplace inspections and chasing non-conformances until they're actually fixed
• Building and maintaining the risk register and Safe Work Procedures that keep pace with how we actually work
• Planning and delivering toolbox talks that connect to real incidents and real hazards, not generic content
• Coordinating training, licensing, and Verification of Competency across the site
• Leading investigations into serious incidents and liaising directly with WorkSafe WA when required
• Championing psychosocial safety alongside the physical stuff

What We're Looking For
• A qualification in Work Health & Safety — Undergraduate Degree, Diploma, or Masters (essential)
• Genuine passion for building safety culture, not just enforcing a checklist
• Solid working knowledge of the WA Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Regulations
• At least five years' experience running inspections, audits, incident investigations, and safety management systems
• Communication skills that work as well on the workshop floor as they do in the boardroom
• The confidence to work autonomously and run a WHS function without a safety net
• A current WA driver's licence

Experience in a mechanical workshop, heavy industry, or mining services environment will put you ahead of the pack, as will familiarity with SiteDocs or similar platforms, and a solid grasp of mobile plant, lifting/rigging, and crane hazards.

Why Join PMM
✔ A program that's genuinely yours to drive, not administer
✔ Real flexibility — 2–3 days a week, days negotiable, built around you
✔ A direct line to leadership and real influence over how safety is run on site
✔ Welshpool location, close to major arterial routes
✔ $120,000 pro rata, negotiable based on experience

If this sounds like the role for you, send through your resume with a brief cover letter on your WHS qualifications and experience to [email protected]
