A big win for Kambalda students 🙌🏉

For a long time, junior sport in Kambalda has been tough to keep going, with not enough players to form teams. For many young people, that meant missing out altogether.

But things are changing. 💪

Thanks to some great leadership at Kambalda West District High School, rugby is back— with strong interest from students and not one, but two teams up and running.

Recently, Westgold helped 28 students travel to Perth to take part in the Rugby 7s Youth Carnival.

For many, it was their first time competing against metro teams and getting a glimpse of opportunities beyond their hometown.

It wasn’t just about the rugby—it was about building friendships, confidence, and the opportunity for these young people to see what’s possible.

This ANZAC Day, we take a moment to reflect on the courage, service and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand defence personnel—past and present.

We acknowledge all who have served, those who are serving today, and the families who carry that service with them.

We also remember those who gave their lives in defence of the freedoms we value.

Lest we forget.

✨ Norseman District High School Students Discover the Magic of Mining at Westgold

In October, our Community Team, together with the crew at the WESTGOLD Training Facility in Maddington, welcomed a lively group of Year 5 and 6 students from DHS, who were in Perth for their school camp.

While the day was packed with fun, it was much more than just an excursion. It was a chance to spark curiosity, build awareness, and help local students discover the exciting opportunities that exist right in their own backyard.

During their hands-on journey through the world of mining, hey hunted for geological “treasure” in pirate-themed geology games, stepped into our underground simulator, climbed into a longhole drill, and explored the facility’s installations. A gold bar scavenger hunt added an extra layer of adventure, keeping spirits high and curiosity buzzing throughout the day.

For many of the students, it was the first time seeing a drill rig up close, first time stepping into a training environment, and first time learning about the geology beneath their hometown. Working alongside schools like Norseman DHS to create these moments, helped them connect with Western Australia's rich resources and imagine their own futures in industries they may not have considered before.

The day ended on a high note, with full stomachs, full minds, and a special surprise: each student took home a Westgold Loop bear and a custom activity book as a keepsake of their visit.

A heartfelt thank you to the Maddington team for warmly hosting these very special young visitors and helping deliver an experience they won’t soon forget.

Michelle has been acting in the role since May and previously served as our Senior Risk and Compliance Advisor.
