As we close out National Reconciliation Week, we also recognise the significance of Mabo Day.

Mabo Day marks the 1992 High Court decision that recognised Native Title and overturned the myth of terra nullius — acknowledging that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have a deep and enduring connection to Country.

It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of truth, recognition and progress.

At MIB Projects, our commitment doesn’t end here. We remain focused on creating opportunities, strengthening culture, and supporting our people — every day.

Last week, during National Reconciliation Week, MIB Projects was honoured to host a screening of YURLU | COUNTRY.

The film tells the powerful story of respected Banjima Elder Maitland Parker and his fight to protect and heal Country impacted by the legacy of Wittenoom.

While this story is rooted in Banjima Country, its message reaches far beyond the Pilbara. It is a story about responsibility, environmental justice, truth-telling and the legacy we leave for future generations.

Maitland dedicated his final years to ensuring future generations would not inherit the same burden. His vision was simple: Country should be safe, healthy and protected for those who come after us.

The screening was a reminder that reconciliation is not just about acknowledging the past. It is about taking action in the present.

We encourage everyone to learn more about this important cause, share the story, and support the ongoing efforts to clean up Wittenoom and restore Banjima Country.

During National Reconciliation Week, we’re proud to share our Word of the Week: Garra — Together, Unified.

Reconciliation is about coming together — learning from one another, walking side by side, and building stronger futures through connection.

At MIB Projects, Garra reflects how we work every day — supporting our people, strengthening culture, and moving forward as one.

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week.

We also recognise the significance of the 1967 Referendum — a historic step towards recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our nation.

It’s a reminder of how far we’ve come, and the role we all play in continuing that progress.

This year’s theme “All In” calls on all of us to step forward — to learn, reflect and take meaningful action.

At MIB Projects, we’re committed to continuing that journey through respect, understanding and real action.
