Subsea Severance: Cutting 85 mm–112 mm Anchor Chain Under Tensio

Cutting large-diameter anchor chain subsea presents severe operational and equipment risks, particularly when working in a vertical orientation under tension or inside a restricted chain table.

To overcome these challenges during recent offshore campaigns, TMT engineered and deployed two dedicated ROV-operated tooling configurations:

✅ Horizontal Cutting: A custom-clamped Diamond Wire Saw (DWS) equipped with protective guarding to isolate the cut and preserve adjacent chain links for reuse.

✅ Vertical Cutting Under Tension: An ROV-managed hydraulic chopsaw with optimised blade geometry, tailored motor flow/pressure parameters, and direct hot-stab control circuits to remain securely attached post-separation.

Both systems were proven offshore, delivering precise severance on schedule while protecting equipment integrity throughout the process.

When a client needed a modular umbilical winch engineered to the exact constraints of their next-generation containerised cleaning unit, there was no existing equipment that fit. TMT designed and manufactured the reelers from the ground up, managing evolving requirements, component changes and timeline shifts in close collaboration with the client’s engineering team throughout.

The result: six fully compliant reelers, through Factory Acceptance Testing, ready for deployment.

TMT designed and manufactured six GEN 3 Umbilical Reelers for the client’s CMU, solving dimensional and operational constraints no off-the-shelf equipment could meet.

At TMT, we believe our people are our greatest strength.

Through our annual Service Awards, we are proud to recognise team members who have reached significant milestones with the company. These milestones reflect years of dedication, hard work, collaboration and commitment that have helped shape who we are today.

Each year of service represents more than time, it represents relationships built, challenges overcome, knowledge shared and achievements celebrated together. We are incredibly grateful for the passion and loyalty our people bring to TMT every day.

Congratulations to all of this years’ Service Award recipients, and thank you for being such an important part of the TMT journey. Here's to celebrating your achievements and many more milestones ahead!

Across time zones and kilometres, our UK team shows up every day with the same commitment that drives everything we do at TMT.

Engineering isn't just technical work; it demands rigorous problem-solving, collaboration, and seeing complex projects through. Our UK team does all three, quietly and consistently. We recognise our UK team for their ongoing dedication, professionalism, and commitment to delivering quality outcomes every day. Their hard work, collaboration, and positive attitude continue to make a real impact across the business.
We are proud to have such a talented team representing TMT in the UK and are grateful to work alongside people who care about getting it right.

Thank you to Simon, Ross, and Ian for their ongoing work in establishing and growing TMT’s UK operations.

We love supporting initiatives that make a real difference, which is why we were so excited to sponsor Rachel in the March Cape2Cape trek. Through their collective effort, the group raised more than $100,000 to support youth mental health in Western Australia.

As Rachel shared, the trek "was truly a life-changing experience" for a cause that means a lot to them.

We congratulate the entire group on this achievement and are proud to have supported an initiative that delivers critical resources to WA youth.

That’s a wrap on CIM CONNECT in Vancouver.

We spent the week engaging with mining engineers, project managers, and executive leaders to discuss the integration of Autonomous Robotic Bolting and UHP waterjet technologies into heavy industry.

Our discussions centred on measurable operational outcomes: removing personnel from high-risk maintenance environments and accelerating scheduled maintenance timelines to reduce asset downtime.

It was great to chat with everyone who came by the stand. Thank you for dropping in!

We had a great time at the Global Resources Innovation Expo in Perth this week, connecting with industry peers and exploring the tech driving the future of resources.

It was a privilege to showcase how TMT is integrating autonomous robotics into high-risk environments to deliver better safety and efficiency for the industry.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to talk to the team!

Oceanology International 2026 is a wrap.

Presenting the Mk3 Electronic Torque Tool and DiveTrack Vision was a highlight, but the real value was in the conversations we had with attendees.

It was great to discuss the practical challenges of subsea operations and how better data integrity and automated control are making a difference in the field.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth. We're looking forward to continuing those discussions.
