Infrastructure doesn’t fail because it’s coastal. It fails when designers haven’t adequately considered the environment.

Salt, moisture, UV exposure, and constant weathering place very different demands on access infrastructure than a controlled inland environment.

That makes material selection only one part of the equation.

For FRP walkway and access systems, engineers also need to consider the resin system, grating configuration, structural support, fixings, loading, surface requirements, and how the complete system will perform in its specific location.

FRP’s inherent corrosion resistance makes it particularly well suited to coastal applications, but good outcomes still start with good design.

Moulded, mini mesh or pultruded grating — which one is right for your project?

The answer starts with the application.

Before selecting FRP grating, there are a few important things to consider:

✔ What loads will it carry?
✔ What span is required?
✔ What is the operating environment?
✔ Is pedestrian comfort important?
✔ Could small objects fall through the surface?
✔ What level of slip resistance is required?
