The work doesn’t stop when the rigs do.

There’s always something that needs attention on site, and at Brightstar’s Sandstone operation, Arop was more than happy to swap the rig for a mower and get stuck into the camp lawns.

It’s a little less horsepower than he’s used to, but judging by that smile, he didn’t mind the change of pace.

The metres matter, but so does everything that keeps a site running well: looking after the equipment and work areas, taking pride in camp and pitching in wherever a hand is needed.

Nice work, Arop. And thanks to Jack Mauger for the pics!

We’re hiring, but we’re not looking for just anyone. We’re looking for people who don't just meet the standard - they set it, and they raise it.

People who own mistakes quickly and fix them. Who speak up when something’s not right. Who look out for their crew, take feedback, pull their weight and hold themselves and each other to a high standard. People who don’t take shortcuts, don’t do the bare minimum and don’t need to be the hero.

That’s the kind of team we’re building. And we’re investing in the business around them too.

We’re upgrading our platforms and protocols, investing in the culture and leadership across the organisation, expanding our focus on wellbeing, and continuing to build our incentive and employee referral programs.

There’s also the good stuff - K-Drill merch, events, staff and crew perks, and more.

We're building a business good people want to be a part of.

If you’re an experienced offsider or driller, you've got the right work ethic, the right attitude and you're ready to be part of something bigger, we want to hear from you.

The best way to finish Diggers? Back out where the drilling happens.

After three full days in Kalgoorlie catching up with clients, suppliers, industry friends and plenty of new faces, our CEO and Commercial Manager hit the road for Genesis Minerals’ Lady Julie and Bruno Lewis sites in Laverton and Leonora.

At Rig 5 and Rig 9, we spent some proper time alongside our drillers and offsiders, watching the crews work together and newer team members learn the K-Drill way.

We also wanted the straight feedback from Genesis’ field geologists and exploration managers: how the programs were tracking, what the ground was doing and how our rigs and crews were performing. Our field-first culture and time spent in the field from supervisors, to safety teams and our leadership group enable us to stay focused on what matters - safe work, honest communication and sample quality our clients expect.

Great people, straight conversations, rigs doing what they’re built to do — and almost 1,200 km on the clock in three days.

Not a bad way to finish the week.

The K-Drill team have been pretty busy of late, with all rigs turning across our surface RC, surface diamond and underground operations, new programs and rigs getting underway, and plenty happening behind the scenes to keep our crews supported and projects moving.

So, we’re looking forward to taking some time out in Kalgoorlie for Diggers & Dealers from Sunday.

It’s a chance to catch up properly with clients, suppliers, industry partners and peers, talk about what’s happening on the ground and get back to what Kal is all about: good people, straight conversations and an industry that keeps moving.

And no, we haven’t bought the Exchange. AI got a bit ahead of our expansion plans, but hey. We're not mad.

If you’ll be in Kal for Diggers, let us know. Patrick Keogh, Ryan O'Sullivan, Aidan Keogh, Steve Swallow, Jack Swallow or Lanna Hill will be glad to catch up.

Yesterday, K-Drill Underground delivered its first 100m shift at Rox Resources’ Youanmi Gold Project, with the team drilling 106.3m safely and presenting core to a high standard.

For our underground division, that is a strong result - but the metres are only part of the story. What matters is how they were delivered. A crew that communicates well, is committed to delivering a quality sample safely, understands the job in front of them, and takes pride in the result (which is pretty evident in the snap, thanks, Adam Hunt!).

That is the standard we are building across K-Drill Underground as the division continues to grow. We've never been about chasing metres at any cost. It is about building consistent field performance, supporting our crews properly and delivering the kind of work clients can rely on shift after shift.

Credit to Driller Kelli Hartree, Offsider Muhammad Storer and Bonio Janu, with Supervisor Luke Westerman and the underground team backing the work in the field.

A great milestone for the team, and a strong step forward for our underground division.

Most drilling contractors are looking for people right now. So are we.

But for K-Drill, recruitment is not just about filling rosters. We are looking for drillers, offsiders and field crew who want to be part of building a business with people who understand the work from the ground up.

K-Drill is still a young company, but the experience behind it runs deep. Across our leadership team, there are people who started as offsiders and drillers, worked through underground mining and drilling operations, led crews, managed jobs, solved technical problems in tough ground and built drilling operations before coming together to build K-Drill.

That experience shapes how we work. It affects how we plan jobs, support crews, communicate with clients, manage safety, protect sample quality and hold standards in the field.

We are growing, but we are not interested in growth at any cost. We want good people who take pride in the work, back their crew, learn properly, speak up when something is not right and understand that the standard you walk past is the standard you accept. And we want people that want to build something too.

If you are a driller, offsider or field crew member looking for more than another swing on another roster, we would like to hear from you. Head to k-drill.com.au/current-job-opportunities to find out more.

An underground rig is only as good as the people behind it.

K-Drill’s ownership group brings more than 100 years across surface and underground drilling, and underground mining, with experience that runs from the drill floor to company leadership, division builds, site restarts and multi-rig scale. That matters underground, where access, sequencing, safety, crew fatigue, communication and sample quality all need to be understood before the first metre is drilled.

Our AKW150 underground diamond coring rig was jointly developed by our friends at AKW Mechanical and K-Drill, to meet the specific requirements of underground resource development and grade control drilling. Built on a proven Sandvik DD420 twin-boom carrier and fitted with a Boart Longyear LM110-based feed system, it combines structural strength, power and precision in one underground platform.

The rig has been engineered for safe, rapid setup and continuous drilling performance in restricted mine headings, with design input from K-Drill’s operational team to support maintainability and uptime.

We know what crews experience underground because our leadership team has lived it. We know what clients need because we’ve planned the work, run the crews, managed the risk and kept programs accountable when conditions shift. And we stay close to the work, because that’s how we ensure we’re operating the way we want to - with honesty, transparency, and safe, reliable performance.

Because sample matters - and underground experience does too.

A great few days connecting with explorers, producers, analysts and operators across the resources sector.
As a returning sponsor for the cocktail event this year, it was great to see the depth of conversation around capital markets, commodity outlook, development pipelines and the next wave of drilling demand.

For K-Drill, these events aren’t just about visibility. They’re about staying close to the projects, the people and the decisions that shape where rigs move next.

Surface and underground capability.
Kalgoorlie and Perth presence.
And a team that understands that sample matters.

Thanks to the RIU & Vertical Events team for another well-run event, and to everyone who stopped by for a conversation (or tried on the new K-Drill merch).

See you on site.
