Project Spotlight | DFES Incident Control Vehicles
When an Incident Control Vehicle arrives at an emergency, it becomes a central command point for managing the response. The benefit of an integrated control system is simple: greater reliability, visibility and confidence that critical systems will remain operational when they’re needed most.
ACS provides the control and power management systems for these DFES vehicles, bringing together PLCs, HMIs and intelligent power management into one integrated solution.
Our scope includes control of the body lighting and inputs/outputs, along with visual and audible alarms that alert operators if antennas, doors or lockers haven’t been correctly stored before travel.
We also manage the vehicle’s power systems through the Victron inverter, with PLC logic controlling generator auto start/stop based on power draw, load and battery levels. This helps keep the body module powered even when the vehicle is isolated from a 240V power source.
For the teams using these vehicles, that means less to manually monitor, immediate visibility of potential issues and greater confidence that the vehicle can continue operating as a command centre throughout an incident.
It’s a great example of what good automation should do, take complexity away from the operator and provide a reliable, integrated system that performs when it matters.
