The Murchison Green Hydrogen Project has engaged an independent environmental consultant to conduct its environmental surveys.

The extensive program of environmental and heritage studies, carried out across 142 field survey days and over four years, is now complete.

The information gathered through this program will support our environmental approval application and has also helped shape the design of the Project’s infrastructure layout to enable:

• reduced environmental impacts,
• protection of heritage values, and
• better outcomes for the community and the region.

What will the clean energy workforce look like?

The renewable energy transition is creating demand for jobs that didn’t exist at scale in Australia a decade ago.

Roles like Electrolyser and Wind Turbine Technicians.

And not every clean energy role will require a university qualification.

Some pathways into the renewable energy sector will begin with:
- Short courses
- Certificates
- Apprenticeships
- Traineeships
- Micro-credentials

The workforce of the future will combine traditional trades with advanced technology, automation and energy systems expertise.

Our Jobs Guide outlines a range of training pathways available across WA.

Ever wondered which of your skills are transferable to the emerging green energy industry?

One of the biggest misconceptions about working in hydrogen and renewables is that you need to start from scratch.

Many existing skills from mining, construction, oil and gas, manufacturing and infrastructure are directly transferable into the hydrogen industry, including electrical, mechanical, civil and process-related trades.

The transition to clean energy presents an opportunity for workers and industries already powering Australia today.

There is more than one pathway into clean energy!

Murchison Green Hydrogen is expected to create around 3,600 jobs during construction and around 450 ongoing local jobs during operations.

And it is not all about engineers!

From electricians to welders, environmental advisors, cooks, logistics personnel and IT specialists, the renewable energy workforce is broader than many people realise.

MGH at the Geraldton Regional Jobs Exhibition

The MGH Project team attended last week’s Geraldton Regional Jobs Exhibition, where we were pleased to showcase our newly released Jobs Guide.

We engaged with students from across the Mid West, who showed strong interest in renewable energy, green hydrogen and the diverse career pathways associated with the MGH Project.

It was encouraging to see such enthusiasm for emerging industries and the opportunities they bring to the region.

A big thank you to Central Regional TAFE and the Geraldton Universities Centre for the opportunity to be part of this important event.

If you haven’t yet explored the Jobs Guide, you can download it from our website.

We are pleased to be shortlisted for round 2 of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency's Hydrogen Headstart program. Stage 1B of the project involves a 500MW electrolysis facility to produce green hydrogen and ammonia. We appreciate government’s support of the industry and look forward to submitting a full application. Murchison is the most advanced large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia project in Australia and will deliver jobs and economic benefits to WA's Mid West region.
