CTD Samples Spark Interest
Precompetitive Review – an aptly named Australian digital publication provides news and analysis on precompetitive geoscience for mineral exploration.
A recent Precompetitive Review feature highlighted the importance of rock chip, core and precious basement samples from South Australia’s mineral-rich northern Gawler Craton, extracted by DIG CT’s coiled tube CT500 rig – the ‘innovative RoXplorer CT Drilling System’.
The drilling campaign resulted in seven holes - five intersecting basement while the deepest was 483 metres with 46 metres of basement. Cover depths ranged from 307 to 437 metres, proving the CT500 rig’s ability to operate in challenging terrain with shallow cover, all the while occupying a smaller, safer and inclusive footprint, when compared to conventional drill rigs.
Meanwhile, coiled tube drilling (CTD) samples continue to be analysed while industry interest increases for SA’s Gawler Craton, specifically an 8,700-sq km project area along the Craton's northwestern margin, granted to Anglo American. Following initial sharing of preliminary field data via National Drilling Initiative (NDI)’s dashboard, extensive results are expected for release by year’s end.
Preliminary field data for rock chip and core obtained by DIG CT on behalf of GSSA/MinEx CRC in Northern Gawler Craton, South Australia is available via NDI’s Dashboard including images, logged lithology and interpreted stratigraphy for each drill hole. Link: https://ow.ly/ZxtG50WvVPK.
